From the President’s Desk
It’s hard to believe that Christmas came and went and we’re heading into the new year. What opportunities does this give us all? We may have our personal resolutions but we are constantly reminded that our growth as an organization and as individual clubs, depends mostly on word of mouth. A challenge for the new year is to declare your Nudism. Don’t wait for someone to ask the question, volunteer information and an invitation to visit your activity. We plant seeds that may take a while to grow, but if we don’t plant there isn’t the opportunity.
Who do we ask? Take a chance! As I was having a sun spot removed under local anesthetic, I talked to the surgeon and his assistant. The conversation led to others joining in the conversation with more questions. When we are asked, “Why?” have an answer. Talk about valuing people for who they are without the façade of clothing or profession. Mention how nice is it to enjoy body acceptance. What other answers do you have? My conversation in the operating room ended with a request for more information and an entry to our fun run. Seed planted.

USAPA Pickle Ball Tournament to be held at the AANR-NW Convention
On December 17, the Willamettans Board of Directors voted to host a USA Pickle Ball (USAPA) tournament during the AANR-NW convention July 21-23. The tournament will be put on by the USAPA. A representative presented details at the Willie’s monthly meeting. He stressed it will be “fun” tournament for all skill levels. The tournament will run three days with lots of play.
This tournament will be scheduled on the National Pickle Ball tournament online schedule. registration will be limited to 200. The potential of having 200 pickle ball players visiting a nudist resort for the first time is incredible. A similar tournament down south capped at 250 and sold out in 11 days.
By the time of the convention the Willamettans will have 8 pickle ball courts to accommodate all skill levels.
Dues paying members made this possible. AANR members dues paid the trade show fees for Sharon Parker, Mike Parker and Shirley Gauthier to host a booth at the Oregon Parks and Recreation Association trade show at the Eugene Hilton on Election day. It was at that show that the USPA District Ambassador approached the AANR-NW contingent about the tournament.
Now you might be asking yourself “why is being posted this now?” If we should gather 200 additional campers or convention attendees as we hope happens you might want to reserve your favorite camping location early. We have never turned campers away and have a ton of dry camping areas.
At a minimum put the convention date on your calendar. Two live bands, tye dye, pool games, horseshoes, bocce ball, ping pong, cribbage, shuffle board and the list goes on and on.
In addition this year for the first time there will not be a $7 AANR-NW convention fee to attend!
