We had several productive discussions about what we can do to grow membership so that we can continue the AANR mission: “To advocate nudity and nude recreation in appropriate settings while educating and informing society of their value and enjoyment” Everyone is welcome at AANR-NW conventions and board meetings. Learn what is happening, contribute your ideas and expand your connections in the nudist community. The AANR-NW fall board meeting will be hosted by theWillamettans (http://aanr-nw.us5.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=cc7f511b492b87d55fd7619fb&id=06300c42c9&e=84c965e783) , near Eugene, on September 27-29, 2013. In 2015, it is the weekend after Fraternity Snoqualmie BBFR. So come for the BBFR and stay for the convention. ** AANR-NW Hall of Fame ———————————————————— At the convention, Paul Kuntzmann was awarded the Hall of Fame award. The Hall of Fame Award is the highest honor the region can award a member. It is based on extraordinary service to AANR, AANR Northwest and nudism. Paul has been a member of AANR-NW for 27 years and is a member of Hidden Springs. Paul has held almost every NW office – President, Vice President and Treasurer – and probably half the committee chairs. He has served as IA chair under at least two presidents, PR, Scholarship, Hall of Fame, Man & Woman, Finance, Convention & Facilities, and Nudescene Editor for five years and managed the bulk mailing for ten years (when the NW was still producing the newsletter in region). He has represented the region at several Recreation and Park, RV and other trade shows. Paul (and Wayne Roberts) worked tirelessly to establish a travel club in the Yakima area, a vision that finally was fulfilled last year with the effort of President Karen Lahey. Paul was a significant contributor in the construction of the regional library and handicap ramp. He is the only person to sleep in the library building! Paul’s efforts in AANR, AANR NW and Restful Haven/Mountaindale (where he held his basic membership for many years before moving to Hidden Springs) have had a significant impact on nude recreation. Paul has always been there when he was needed and continues to be an asset to the region and to promotepublic awareness for nudism. It is time the region recognizes Paul for his exceptional service to AANR and AANR NW and awards him its highest honor, the NW Hall of Fame Award. ** AANR-NW Annual Awards ———————————————————— Man of the Year – Dave Smith Woman of the Year – Theresa “T” Price Membership Increase – by percentage – Rogue Suncatchers Membership Increase – by count – Rogue Suncatchers Scholarship – Brea Capshaw President’s Award – Theresa “T” Price Newsletter Award – Landed Club – Kaniksu Ranch Newsletter Award – Non-landed Club – Hidden Springs Website Award – Landed Club – Lake Bronson Website Award – Non-landed Club – Montana Naturist Organization ============================================================ Copyright © 2013 American Association for Nude Recreation – Northwest, All rights reserved. AANR-NW AUGUST ROOSTER ROCK/SAUVIE ISLAND NUDE BEACH CLEAN-UPS

*AANR-NW AUGUST, 2013 ROOSTER ROCK/SAUVIE ISLAND NUDE BEACH CLEAN-UPS * *AANR-NW has continued to be a beach adopter for the two legal nude beaches in northwest Oregon as well as adopting Rooster Rock State Park. As such, two beach litter clean-ups must be scheduled each year to fulfill the agreement. The last two years, the water was extremely high for the first one, to the point that even the trails were under water. This year, the events have been scheduled later in the summer so that there is absolutely no chance of that happening. * ** *Saturday, August 3 at 9:00 a.m. at Rooster Rock State Park. This is a clothing optional event, if you are cleaning in the nude area. It is highly suggested that you wear shoes and sun screen at all clean-ups. Hats are also recommended if it is very bright. Bring work gloves if you have them. All tools and clean-up bags will be furnished. We will be working with the Rooster Rock park staff. The Park Ranger Supervisor will have a list of projects that includes light to heavy work. Volunteers do not have to pay the day use fee. Tell the person in the registration booth that you are there for the AANR-NW clean-up. When registering, you will receive a card to put in your window. Meet at the east end of the parking lot near the restrooms. This should not last longer than around three hours, and will be followed by a hot dog barbeque at the picnic table just into the official nude beach area. AANR-NW will provide cold water, sugar free lemonade, meat and veggie hot dogs and trimmings and some dessert snacks. Please do not leave any items visible in your car. The only restrooms accessible from the nude beach are located near the parking area. * ** *Sunday, August 4 – Sauvie Island-Collins Beach – clean-up at 1:00 p.m. – A parking pass is usually required and can be purchased at the store or deli after crossing the bridge to the island. SOLVE is again working to provide us day-of-event passes for those that volunteer. Portable restrooms are located in the parking area at each trailhead. We will concentrate our efforts on the gravel road parking area, the five trails to the nude beach and litter sweeps of the beach area. Meet on the beach near the second nude beach opening (entrance number 3). There should be a canopy set up there. A potluck meal will be held at around 3:00 p.m. Plates and tableware will be provided as well as some bottled drinking water and sugar free lemonade drink.* ** *Please consider assisting at these events. Volunteers are always welcome. Contact gat@aanr-nw.org gat@aanr-nw.org> for directions and further details on these events and to request a day-of-event Collins Beach parking pass.* ** *There will be a repeat of the clean-ups on September 21 and 22 to fulfill the nude beach adoption agreement for this year.* ** *Mike Parker* *AANR-NW GAT Chair* American Association for Nude Recreation – Northwest · 30400 S. American Association for Nude Recreation – Northwest I have been asked from Jim Smock to no longer republish the Trustees & Clubs Weekly Report. I asked for the reason and was told “the Weekly Report is exclusively for the trustees and club owners and those other designated to receive it. It is not to be considered public information in the general understanding of that word.” The eNews will continue as a way for those of us in the Northwest Region to communicate with each other. *Nominations Open for AANR Northwest Man and Woman of the Year* * * Do you know of a man or woman who is an AANR Northwest member and who contributed to nudism in this region during 2012. Send our committee the name of the nominee, his/her home club, and a detailed resume of his/her contributions to AANR Northwest during the past year. January Update

Hi fellow nudists,

If you are going to be on the Big Nude Cruise, please stop by and say hi. My husband and I will be in cabin 2252. Also, there is going to be a NW Meet and Greet on our first day at sea from 1:30pm – 2:30pm. Be sure to come and meet friends and get back into contact with others from the Northwest. Other regions will be having their Meet and Greets at other times, which will be listed in the schedule.

Don’t forget, we are going to skinny dip together on July 13th. What a great way to celebrate Nude Recreation Week with our fellow nudists at TNS, as well as to get positive publicity! Encourage your club to participate.

Now for a more serious matter, I also have a challenge for you. AANR-NW membership is down 4.5%. Our percentage loss was the greatest of any of the regions. We need to find a way to turn this around. What can you do to help your club and AANR grow? Will you call some of your friends that no longer belong and urge them to come back? Do you have any ideas? If you do, bring them to your club boards. If it is something that the region can help with or if you want to share a great idea, send me an email. We want to stop this decline and we need your help to do it.

Naturally Yours, Karen Lahey president@aanr-nw.org ==============================================

September Update

The AANR-NW Fall Board meeting is this coming weekend, September 29 and 30, at Lake Bronson.

As always, all AANR members are invited to come.

Before I became active on the AANR-NW board, I would see those words, but I don’t think I really believed them. However, I have discovered that I should have believed them and you should believe them too.

You don’t have to be an elected director to be active at the regional level. Your ideas and energy are more than just welcome, they are sought after.

Come to the meetings. Learn what AANR-NW does. We have fun as well as just working at the meetings. I have found that I value the friendships that I have made from being active at the regional level. If you can only make one day, you should make it Saturday. Typically, Saturday we get started about 10, with forums, discussions, get-togethers and evening entertainment. Sunday is the formal meeting and runs from about 9 to noon.

Our region is very special in some ways. As opposed to other regions in AANR, your board is comprised of a director from each club in the region. In other regions, directors represent more than a single club. This allows us to operate in a much more cooperative way. Since each club is represented, all clubs have an opportunity to work together and learn from each other. And it is much easier to work in cooperation with friends than with strangers.

So, please, come to our meetings. If you can’t make it to Lake Bronson this weekend, join us in the spring or next summer or next fall or …
