Facebook against Nudism

Facebook seems to have a problem with nudism. Recently, one of our Palm
Springs’ resorts, Terra Cotta Inn
,
had their Facebook page deleted by Facebook. The reason given for this
was that it had links to a no longer available 21 month old article on
the Microsoft site msn.com

and to a recent article, The naked truth about nudity among the over-50s
in
the Guardian

(a prestigious UK newspaper) which contained no nudity but were stated
to be obscene. While it was restored after appeal, it is not the first
time that this type of censorship has occurred. Two years ago, the
same Guardian posted an article about Facebook’s censorship entitled
Facebook’s nudity and violence guidelines are laid bare

Washington Non-Profits

AANR-NW is a member of Washington Nonprofits

whose mission is “To build a strong, collaborative network of nonprofits
serving Washington communities through advocacy, education and capacity
building.” We were represented at the Legislative Reception on Feb 12
at the Governor’s Mansion. We did get to network with the other
participants and help them learn a little about nudism and what AANR is.

State of the Petition

As of the morning of 2/6/2014 we had 2,972 signatures on the petition at
whitehouse.gov to allocate federal lands for clothing optional use. A
bit closer than last week, but still a long way from the required
100,000. The petition deadline is 2/12. It is highly improbable that
we will reach that number in time. However, we should still try to get
as many signatures as possible in the time left.
There is nothing to prevent us from doing this again at a future time.
We are investigating ways that we could mount a longer, wider
campaign, perhaps with advertising to the general public. Stay tuned.

exhibition, Au Naturel: the Nude in the 21st Century

to be held January 23 – March 20, 2014.

by a non-nudist about her first experience at a nudist resort. The
resort is Bare Oaks in Canada. It’s hard for nudists to remember their
first experience, but here is a reminder for us all. And a reminder to
be friendly to newcomers.
