Update on the “We the People” petition:

*Designate portions of public lands under management of the federal
government for clothing-optional recreational use.*
In a week we have gone from a handful of supporters to 2043 as of Friday
morning. That is a significant increase, but still a long way from the
100,000 signatures needed by Feb. 12. AANR and the other regions have
sent out notices to members to sign the petition.
If you haven’t done so already please sign the petition, and encourage
everyone you know to do so also. Anyone with a US address can sign the
petition.
Here is a link to the whitehouse.gov

petition website

(you
may need to copy paste this into your browser.)
You must have an account, so click on the “Create an Account” button
first. You will need an email address and a zip code.
If we get the 100,000 signatures, the federal administration must
respond to our request.

Sign petition for use of federal lands for clothing optional use.

*There is now a* *”We the people” petition on the WhiteHouse.Gov website
advocating the designation of more federal lands for nude recreation.
(Information and a link to the petition can be found here:
http://clothing-optional-access.weebly.com
)
If 100,000 people sign the petition by Feb. 11 the federal government
will respond and address this issue. I’m urging everyone to sign the
petition. The potential benefits are enormous.

To reach 100,000 signatures, we need everyone’s signature. Including
your non-nudist friends. Please help us reach this goal. Let’s get
this out to every nudist and friends of nudists.

SAVE THE DATE— APRIL 26-2014

Rooster Rock State Park –Earth Day-Tree Planting

You won’t want to miss this event! Rooster Rock State Park
located on the beautiful Columbia Gorge on I-84 at exit 25 is
hosting this rain or shine Earth Day Tree Plant. Park entry is
free for volunteers. Volunteers meet at the west park
headquarters in the parking lot area April 26 at 9 am for
instructions and directions.

This is a great family event. We will lend our support by helping plant
400 trees in the clothing required area of the park. We work in
partnership with Oregon State Park staff, Sierra Club members, Safeway
employees, SOLV, and members of Friends of the Historic Columbia Gorge
Highway.
Please wear weather appropriate clothing as this is a rain or shine
event. Park tools are limited and we have been asked to bring our own
garden planting tools, 5 gallon bucket, gloves, and drinking water. No
tools or experience are required.
Volunteers registering with AANR-NW at the event will be entered in a
raffle drawing. Our first raffle contribution is a Henry Yuen watercolor
painting. You can check out Henry’s work at
http://www.hevanet.com/hjlyuen/beach.htm

The event is scheduled from 9 am – 1pm. Following the event we will
gather at the TA Truck stop restaurant in Troutdale for a no host lunch
and social.
Stay tuned for further details as the event date gets closer. If you
would like to volunteer, commit to attending, donate a raffle prize or
have questions contact the event organizers listed below.

Reaction to Nude Year’s Resolutions

Three of our readers are willing to share their responses to the
challenge to take a small step out of the clothes closet.
=======================
With regard to your New Year’s Resolution suggestion:

Although people tend to resist change, they gradually adapt to changes
in the prevailing customs. A century ago, one could be arrested for
indecency for wearing a form-fitting one-piece bathing costume. After
WWII, two-piece swim suits gradually became more popular and more
abbreviated, and now Victoria’s Secret can put runway shows on
television with a minimum amount of fabric. However, in a retrograde
move, even Victoria’s Secret costumes show not the least suggestion of a
nipple, whereas 40 years ago soft bras were popular and nipples were not
obscene.

Since Oregon has no laws against non-sexual public nudity (although
cities may impose their own restrictions), it may be possible for clubs
to advertise with appropriate pictures, such as on a billboard near
their facilities, or other suitable locations.

The more people see of nudism, the less they will consider it a weird
fringe movement.

Nude regards,

Desmond Armstrong

Karen, that was a very interesting article on your Toastmaster’s experience.

On the theme of “packing” for anything nudist related. Everytime Mona
and I head for SMR we go through this routine of finding the right
clothes to take. We then laugh and ask ourselves what in the world are
we thinking. We need no clothes! We then make sure we have our robes,
towels, flip flops, and sun screen. But the interesting thing that
boggles our minds is… why do we have SO MUCH laundry after a
weekend?!? I don’t think I could handle a textile weekend of camping
again. The laundry would swamp us!

=======================
When I retired ,the employees had a small party for me . One of my co-
workers made a plaque for me with my working years on it . At the base
of the plaque it also had inscribed that I belonged to TNS.There were
Questions… I stood up and told about 50 people that TNS was a Naturist
organization. Everyone thought that I was also a Biologist as well as a
Maintenance Worker . I cleared it up for them . A few blushed and a few
whistled, mostly laughter.I thought it was good for all of them.
