AANR-NW Beach Weekend Update

By admin at 7:04 am on July 21, 2010 | No comments

After receiving some calls and emails about the beach weekend event I decided to post more detailed information. Most have been asking if they can help which is really appreciated. What we really need is a pop up canopy and a portable table suitable for using at the Sauvie Island event.

July 31, 9 am -Rooster Rock State Park-This is a clothing optional event. Highly suggested that you wear shoes and sunscreen. Bring gloves if you have them. We will be working with the Rooster Rock park staff. Park Ranger Supervisor Glenn will have a list of projects that includes light to heavy work. Volunteers do not have to pay the day use fee. When registering you will receive a pass to put in your window. Please do not bring or leave any items visible in your car. The only restrooms are located near the parking area. The hotdog barbecue is just that…hotdogs, buns, condiments, and sauerkraut. Always plenty for each volunteer to eat several! It will be hot so bring lots of water.

Mountaindale Sun Resort (MSR)-Volunteers provide a nice dinner and serve at 6 pm. There is no breakfast served so some beach volunteers stop in North Plains to eat breakfast before heading to Sauvie Island. Some bring an ice chest for their breakfast items, water and snacks. Please contact MSR if you plan to participate. 503-647-2449 or email office@mountaindalesun.com. Check out their website at www.mountaindalesun.com.

August 1-Sauvie Island-Collins Beach 10 am-A parking pass is required and can be purchased at the store or deli after crossing the bridge to the island. Restrooms are close and located in the parking area. We will concentrate our efforts on the gravel road parking area and litter sweeps of the beach area. Hot dog barbecue starts at noon. We are in need of a pop-up canopy and a portable table suitable for putting the barbeque grills on for this event.

You can participate in one event or all three. Public officials appreciate our efforts and your participation contributes to preserving our nudist rights on public lands.

If you have questions or can provide a canopy or table for the Sauvie Island event please contact Shirley Gauthier at sherbog@msn.com.

AANR Weekly Report 7/16/2010

By admin at 11:53 pm on July 16, 2010 | No comments

**

*Erich Schuttauf, Executive Director*

c/o execasst@aanr.com

*Skinny-Dip Coverage Continues!*

This week media stories continued to pour onto the airwaves and the Internet. According to Google sources, approximately 350 related articles, interviews, clips, and blog entries have been recorded! Carolyn Hawkins has done a great job of compiling the latest news that we have, but we hope you will contact us if you’ve seen something that we haven’t listed. I congratulate each and every one of you who made this year’s event so successful. I personally wish to thank Randy Savage, Susan Weaver, Pat Brown—and Nan and Carolyn from my staff—for their very valuable help.

There are several reasons why this attention is so important:

*Mindset…* About a year ago you may have seen commercials run by a major life insurance/investment company encouraging people to “move retirement planning to the front of your mind.” The company no doubt spent millions to run these ads, but AANR and its clubs can accomplish similar goals with a successful PR event. A big story like the AANR World Record Skinny-Dip is likely to get attention more than once by readers, listeners, and viewers. In turn, that gets people thinking about visiting a nude beach, nudist club, or just skinny-dipping in the family pool. They may have always wanted to give it a try, but just not been thinking about it lately. Getting nude recreation into the mindset of people is very important in getting them to take that first step

*Marketing…* During the last 30 days our website software shows that over 110,000 people visited www.aanr.com. Of those, 38,500 people visited the skinny-dip page. The same software estimates that 80% of this web traffic came from new/first time visitors based upon IP address information, server logs, etc. Many of our clubs advertised on the skinny-dip page which provided an excellent opportunity for others to learn about these clubs. Of course, a logical question is, “How do we turn visitors into members and repeat customers?” For AANR’s part, we signed many, many of these visitors up to receive the Association’s bi-weekly e-mail newsletter, the E-Bulletin. This will allow us to “drip market” to these prospects 26 times within the upcoming year at very little cost. Onsite visitors to clubs were encouraged to sign up to receive complimentary issues of The Bulletin by mail along with an information package about us as part of the Friends of Skinny-Dipping program.

*Mainstreaming…* Even those who will never consider going to visit a nudist club or clothing-optional beach have nevertheless been educated about the huge numbers of people who enjoy doing so. Lawmakers who read these stories become a little less likely to legislate in areas that would offend voters. Advertisers and corporations take notice of the phenomenon, leading to possible positive treatment in their messaging and products. The concept seems much less foreign when a friend or family member brings up the subject.

*More Media…* A good story gives life to many more good stories that “spin off” from the original subject. There’s little doubt that in six months or more from now, Carolyn Hawkins will get a call from a reporter seeking to do a story that was prompted by what they heard about the skinny-dip.

AANR-NW Beach Weekend

By admin at 9:40 pm on | No comments

Rooster Rock-Mountaindale Sun Resort-Sauvie Island Weekend

It is almost time for the annual AANR-NW beach weekend. This is a great time to enjoy nude recreation on public lands and meet other nudists.

July 31-Rooster Rock State Park work day starts at 9 am at the East End area near the restrooms. Park Ranger Supervisor Glenn Littrell will have a list of projects that will include work for all levels of ability. The hotdog barbeque starts at noon. Bring water for your personal use in a refillable container, sunscreen and a towel for sitting. This is a clothing optional event.

Mountaindale Sun Resort (MSR) www.mountaindalesun.com has invited beach volunteers to a free dinner starting at 6 pm following the Rooster Rock beach day. Ground fees are free and if you choose to camp overnight a small fee for your campsite is required. Please call MSR if you plan to enjoy the dinner and/or camp overnight. A huge thanks to Mountaindale for their continued and generous support for nude recreation on public lands. Volunteers enjoy the opportunity to combine the luxory of the resort with their volunteer work on public lands. Thank you Mountaindale Sun Resort.

August 1-Sauvie Island cleanup starts at 10 am. Sauvie Island requires a parking pass that can be obtained at the store or deli once you cross the bridge to the island. There is no water available for drinking so please bring plenty of water. We will be completing a litter pickup along the gravel road and beach area. Volunteers will be gathering close to the water between entrances 3-4. Look for the AANR flag.

SAVE THIS DATE-

September 25-Rooster Rock State Park is hosting a SOLV Fall Beach Cleanup. This event takes the place of the previous May “Down by the Riverside” event. Volunteers are asked to meet at 9 am at the East end area by the restrooms.

Fraternity Snoqualmie celebrates the tradition of skinny-dipping during BBFR Weekend.

By admin at 12:18 pm on July 6, 2010 | No comments

In support of 35th Annual Nude Recreation Week, July 5-11, Fraternity Snoqualmie Family Nudist Park celebrates the tradition of skinny-dipping during BBFR Weekend.  The members of FS, who have proudly owned and run the 40-acre nudist park located on SE 127th St, 3 miles outside of Issaquah since 1945, invite you to spend the weekend with us…..naturally!

2nd annual Guinness World Record Skinny Dip!  Saturday–July 10 at Noon (pacific nudist time),
Sponsored by the  American Association for Nude Recreation,  AANR members will take a page out of Norman Rockwell’s world and get out in their birthday suits to celebrate their independence…from clothing.  But you don’t have to be a member of AANR to join in the festivities and fun.  Join us and help us beat the record we established through North America and at FS last year! Sign up starts at 10am.  In conformance with the stated rules, all participants must be completely nude during the skinny dip to be counted. As with all Guinness World Record events, all record attempts must be verified by a designated “member in standing” of the local community.

19th Annual Clothing Optional Bare Buns Fun Run  Sunday–July 11 at 11am.
Be Brave, Be Tough, Beat The Mountain, In The Buff!
BBFR is a clothing optional 5k fun run up the side of Tiger Mountain starting and ending at FS Family Nudist Park.  Day of Race participants can catch the shuttle bus between 8:00am and10:00am at the Tibbett’s Valley Park N’ Ride.  From I-90 take Exit 15 West, turn left at Newport Way NW.  Carpools of 3 or more may stop at the Park & Ride for a car pass to drive directly to the park.  Awards given to top 3 runners in all age divisions, plus random prizes.

Other Weekend Activities include:

Friday night—July 9 at 7pm.  Wine & Cheese Party.  Members bring a bottle of wine and a snack to share and enjoy the music of Raymond Hayden & The Dark Drive Home

Saturday Night—July 10 at 5pm Qdoba Naked Burrito Bar & Dance Party on the lawn (donations accepted)

First time visitors to FS receive a complimentary 1 day membership.  Return visitors pay regular day fees of $15 per person. Children are welcome accompanied by their parents, at no additional fee.  Photo ID is required for admittance.  Carpooling and Camping is encouraged. (call about weekend tent camping special!) RV spots available by reservation.

Visit our website http://www.fraternitysnoqualmie.com or call 425-392-NUDE for more information.

Registration for the Skinny-Dip will open at 10:00 am on Saturday. Be early as the gate will be locked at 11:45 am. The Skinny-Dip will happen at 12:00 noon, and pictures will be taken for official documentation. Those who do not wish to be photographed can turn their backs to the camera. Only the official photographs are allowed.

After the Skinny-Dip Lake Bronson Club will fire up the BBQ. There will be a free hotdog or hamburger plus a drink for all participants. Seconds should available by donation.

To find us, take Sultan Basin Road north off of Highway #2 at Sultan. Proceed north for 5.25 miles. On the left there is a chain link fence with a green and yellow sign with the letters “LB” on it. *Wishing a Happy, Safe, and Successful Independence Day Holiday to All*

This weekend marks the traditional celebration of Independence Day and a major event among most AANR clubs. We extend to you our very best wishes for good weather and fun.

Because the holiday falls on a Sunday, our office will be closed on Monday. We will resume regular operating hours on Tuesday morning.

Reports of our family members, friends, and other men and women serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, elsewhere overseas, and in the armed forces here and in Canada, remind us that freedom, while priceless, is certainly not free. We publicly thank those who have served, and also those in civilian government—from police officers to firefighters and paramedics—who help to preserve peace and freedom also.

*Happy Canada Day *

Canada Day celebrations occur this week also. The country is 143 years old, and we very much appreciate the great contribution that our neighbors to the North make to our association and the world of nude recreation. Best wishes to all Canadians and those who carry a piece of Canada in their hearts!

Celebrations such as Independence Day and Canada Day also provide a convenient opportunity to remind the nudist community that preserving our liberty to enjoy nude recreation does not come without challenges.

*AANR Helping Members and Clubs*

We had a considerable number of reminders that the important work of protecting the freedom to practice nude recreation goes on this week. Calls poured into the office seeking assistance with criminal citations and custody matters.

*Midwest**…* First, a member in the Midwest was charged with disorderly conduct after he woke in the morning, still nude, and observed a work crew outside his back window. Until very recently, this person’s backyard had looked out onto protected wetland and was very secluded. With new landscaping and paths being put in, people are now where only weeds once stood. As can be expected, people and nudity do not always mix. We have worked with the member and a lawyer he retained to review options as he considers the plea he will enter in court.

*West…* Next a member in the AANR-West region called after her son learned he faces charges for contempt of court. He allowed his daughter (our member’s granddaughter) to visit at the nudist club. He was unaware that his ex-spouse had inserted a clause prohibiting visits to nudist venues in their child’s custody agreement when it was revised several years ago. We are presently assisting with a search for a qualified attorney who practices in the state where the child resides, and the contempt charge is pending.

*Midwest** and East…* AANR also assisted a member who lives in the Midwest, but visits and has a full membership within an AANR-East club. Again, the issue is the right to bring grandchildren to the club, which has been happening since the child was born and only recently became an issue. I had extensive conversations with the member’s attorney, and we expedited a package of legal precedents and expert materials out that will be used in court later this month.

*West…* Finally, we continue to work with an AANR family that encountered significant difficulties after their nudist family photos within a private family album on the Flickr website attracted the attention of authorities. We have worked closely with the counsel representing the father in what continues to be a case involving photos with simple family nudity and nothing more. We are pleased to report that the children have been returned to the custody of their mom, although dad is not presently allowed to return home pending trial. Cases like theirs are very sobering for the AANR staff and your Executive Director. They provide the need to press the case for nude recreation with officials in legislatures and government agencies and for educating them about the difference between nude and lewd.

*Speaking of Educating Government…* We received word from yet another AANR club—this one located in the Midwest—that was turned down a couple months ago by a bank for credit card processing at what would have been a lower rate than what it pays its current vendor. That brings the total of clubs reporting a problem with this issue to five. The good news is that we have brought your case to Washington and Washington is listening! The other good news is that we have some new bank options available through a credit card processor that is friendlier to nude recreation. If you would like information, please contact our office.
