*Carolyn Hawkins Quoted by AOL NEWS about New British Show “The Naked Office”*

Even when she’s on vacation Carolyn is often working for AANR. Yesterday America Online carried a story about a new show making headlines in Britain known as The Naked Office. The reporter interviewed Carolyn for her thoughts. Read what she had to say about working in the nude here: http://www.aolnews.com/weird-news/article/the-naked-office-reality-show-has-people-undressing-for-success/19483606

*AANR Helping Clubs*

This week I have been assisting one of our clubs in its efforts to secure a permit to sell alcoholic beverages. This assistance has included preparing a legal memorandum on the subject of when laws affecting nudity where alcohol is sold do, and do not, apply. It has been a significant effort for all involved. We will keep you apprised of how things turn out.

*A Special Thanks to AANR’s Geek Team*

Did you know there is a team of AANR members with professional experience in the field of information technology, web sites, social networking, and programming who are volunteering their time to help their Association become better at leveraging technology? It’s true! Dubbed the “Geek Team,” this roster of those in-the-know about all things computer have already held several productive teleconferences and provided helpful advice to us. An article will be appearing in an upcoming Bulletin issue about their efforts, but I’d like to take this opportunity to thank them as well.

*Happy Anniversary to My Wife Georgianna*

Yesterday, Georgie and I celebrated twenty-one years of marriage. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank her for our many years with one another. I also thank AANR because nude recreation has deeply enriched our lives.

*Nature’s Hideaway Spared by Tornado*

Cheri Alexander of the Travelites was in contact with the folks at Nature’s Hideaway. The tornado mentioned in last week’s report was close, but didn’t hit them. Everyone is OK.

*The E-Bulletin*

Yesterday’s E-Bulletin went out to almost 17,000 subscribers with updates on the World Record Skinny-Dip and more. The E-Bulletin has a Join Our Mailing List button at the bottom of each issue so you can help us grow our mailing list by forwarding it to friends so they can sign up to receive their own copy.

Watch for a special Skinny-Dip edition of the E-Bulletin next week.

Remember, AANR GAT works for you!

*There are Still 3 Opportunities to be a* *Co-sponsor at the 2010 AANR Convention

“Pre-Game” at Sun Meadow*

By now you have probably heard this: In an effort to offer an exciting AANR national convention this summer, Sun Meadow Resort has booked nine nights of back-to-back entertainment featuring nationally and internationally touring artists. Each day of the convention will also offer gourmet dinners, and multiple workshops in various formats spread throughout the day along with the traditional sports and meeting opportunities. In short, each day is going to be very exciting and no two days will be alike in dinner menu, workshop content or evening entertainment.

What Sun Meadow is offering is a chance to share the limelight at convention as the co-sponsor of one entire day of the convention “pre-game.” We are expecting up to 500 avid nudists (70% of those pre-registered plan to come early) to attend this convention and marketing experts tell us that it takes “7 quality touches” to help people make a decision to become a customer. So Sun Meadow is offering 10 different ways that co-sponsors will be able to have a positive presence with the AANR Convention “Pre-Game” attendees on the day that they co-sponsor.

As you might imagine the cost of producing an event of this magnitude will cost thousands of dollars per day. So co-sponsorship of actual convention days quickly sold out when it was announced to the AANR-NW spring board meeting for only $500. There were six convention days available between August 9-15. They are sold out.

You may have also heard that Sun Meadow has expanded the fun by starting early (the weekend before the official Monday kickoff). Based on pre-reservations they can tell you that these 3 days (August 6-8) will be just as busy as the convention including the quality of nightly entertainment. The only difference between the Pre-Game and the actual convention is the absence of meetings. Everything else – including a large number of people in attendance – will look the same. *But, because they are the official convention’s Pre-Game, these days can be co-sponsored on a first come/first serve basis for only $300. * Here is a quick recap of what is still available:

*3 Pre-Game convention days available*

*to co-sponsor @ only $300 each *We’re talking about Friday, August 6, Saturday August 7, and Sunday, August 8 To check out the entertainment planned for these days *download the schedule * at www.sunmeadow.org

Each Pre-Game day’s co-sponsor receives the same benefits as the $500 convention sponsors receive…but for only $300. Here’s what you get:

1) Periodic announcements each day prefaced by the co-sponsor’s name on the resort’s public address system 2) Masthead stating the co-sponsor of the day in the daily (pre)convention newsletter updates 3) Individual posters hung throughout the resort all convention long about each evening’s entertainment that feature the co-sponsor for that performance 4) Opportunity to stuff your promotional piece in the convention attendee’s registration packets 5) Co-Sponsor of the Pre-Game Day recognition in the official AANR convention programs each attendee receives upon check-in 6) 2 large 2.5’ X 6’ color banner that will be prominently showcased at the pool and in main lodge over the performance stage for the evening’s entertainment (not date specific, so that after the convention you can take it to your home club and use it for many other events). 7) Immediately added to the Convention Information page on Sun Meadow’s Website as an event co-sponsor 8) Sign at each of multiple daily workshops noting the co-sponsor of that day. 9) Ability to donate up to 10 logo items that Sun Meadow will give away for you throughout the day on the day you are co-sponsoring. 10) Co-sponsor will be given 2 minutes to talk about what their club has to offer guests right before the second half of the concert for that evening begins 11) *Opening Day Bonus*: the co-sponsor of the 1st-Pre-Game day (Friday, August 6) will have their Co-Sponsor banners (see #6 above) displayed a day early (all day Thursday) while people are arriving.

To ask a question or reserve a day at the convention or the convention pre-game, contact: chas@sunmeadow.org or 208 686 8686 When they’re gone, they’re gone.

*Note: AANR-NW is sponsoring one of the convention days.* _______________________________________________ eNews mailing list eNews@aanr-nw.org http://aanr-nw.org/mailman/listinfo/enews_aanr-nw.org

*Work on a GREAT Convention is Well Under Way*

This week Nan and I held a very productive telephone conversation with the owners of Sun Meadow Resort of Idaho about the AANR Convention that takes place there in August. The work that their team has put into making this one of the most memorable events ever is very obvious. The June issue of The Bulletin, which is making its way in the mail to you right now, provides many details about the outstanding entertainment lined up. Why not make plans to join us?

*The Bulletin*

Speaking of the AANR Bulletin, I want to take just a moment to congratulate Linda Berry, Martha Young, Lynn Von Hagel, and Angie Priore for an incredible job on the June issue. Literally every page has captivating photos, interesting stories, or letters. Even the advertisements stand out! The registration quality on the presses at our printer was especially sharp also. So make a special point to look for your copy and read about Bare Necessities’ successful Aloha cruise, Sun Meadow’s entertainment, and much, much more.

*AANR Helping Members and Clubs*

This week we responded to an e-mail from a West Coast club seeking guidance on obtaining and using photo releases. We also spent time with a club in the Midwest which is considering the pros and cons of performing criminal background checks on members and guests.

*Oaklake Trails** Spared by Tornado*

Those reading the news may have seen that tornadoes touched down this week in the Southwest not far from Oaklake Trails in Depew, Oklahoma. AANR Club Liaison Terry Justice spoke with representatives from the club this week and we rejoice that they were not struck. As of yesterday we had not yet had an opportunity to speak with Natures Hideaway which may have also been “in harm’s way” but we will report on their status also.

AANR Weekly Report 4/30/2010

*Updates on Issues Mentioned in Last Week’s Report*

*Merchant Accounts*

We’re pleased to let you know that we received news this week that one of the credit card processing companies that had denied service to the northeast club mentioned in last week’s report reconsidered and agreed to take the club’s business. We will build on what we have learned about the club’s work with, and the materials AANR submitted to, this vendor to help future clubs. We also heard from an AANR member about a nudist-friendly merchant who may be able to assist with such services.

*Department of Motor Vehicles*

We are also pleased to report that the Louisiana Department of Motor Vehicles agreed to review its decision refusing to issue a license plate with the letters NDIST. While it has not yet reversed its refusal, the Department has pledged to consider the material forwarded by AANR and place it with senior officials for their consideration.

*More Issues for Our “To Do” List*

Following last week’s report we also heard from two other clubs about similar prejudice that they are facing. In one case, an advertising company that leases ad space on city benches at places like bus stops rebuffed an inquiry from a Northwest club which simply wanted its name and a very discreet logo to appear.

A second club (this one located on the West Coast) had a reciprocal web advertising / cross-marketing relationship terminated abruptly after their trade partner “discovered” that the club has nudity present on its web page. That’s interesting because the club has always had such nudity and this wasn’t new.

We are making arrangements in both cases to send informational materials to both companies in an effort to continue changing mindsets.

*Bittersweet News from Crocus Grove, Manitoba*

A number of you wrote to our offices this week to let us know about stories appearing in various media about the recent announcement by the owners of the grounds used for Crocus Grove club that it has begun requiring clothing and will operate as a clothed campground this summer. Two links below provide a sampling of stories about the announcement and the response from club members, who include former AANR Vice President Bob Migliore and his wife, Pat.

We’ve used the term “bittersweet” to describe these events because we also know that volunteers within the club are exploring options to establish a * new* meeting place of their own. We’re prepared to roll up our sleeves to help make that happen and wish them every success.

*TNS Skinny-Dip Update*

AANR is looking forward to the 2010 World Record Skinny-Dip with enormous excitement. The webpage has been created – check it out at http://www.aanr.com/skinny-dip.html; new event host clubs are being added, and a set of videos are being prepared to air on YouTube.

The biggest disappointment is that The Naturist Society has declined to co-sponsor the event with AANR this year. Since TNS is celebrating its 30thanniversary they have many exciting plans that will consume a great deal of their time and attention.

AANR did invite TNS participation in 2009, and upped the ante this year with an offer to add TNS as a co-sponsor to official documents, including event Host and PR packets and add the “N” logo to the official T-shirts. It was our hope that the potential public relations and marketing benefits, as well as the sheer fun of this event, could re-build a positive and cooperative relationship. However, it is understandable that every organization has its own events, deadlines, and time requirements. We are gratified that TNS has expressed an interest in future co-sponsorship of the skinny-dip or other fun activities.

*Terry Justice, Club/Member Liaison*

clubinfo@aanr.com

There is only one directory change this week.

Unfortunately, due to the economy, Crocus Grove in Manitoba, Canada, has gone textile and will no longer be an AANR club.

Good luck to you Crocus Grove. We at AANR wish you every success. _______________________________________________ eNews mailing list eNews@aanr-nw.org http://aanr-nw.org/mailman/listinfo/enews_aanr-nw.org
