*Special Press Release Just For You*
Earth Day is just around the corner on April 22, 2010. This year, Earth Day is celebrating its 40th anniversary, so there will probably be plenty of opportunities to tie in publicity with it and the coverage it will generate. Attached you will find a template release. All you have to do is fill in your club’s information. You can send it out through CapWiz, which is a free service to our clubs. Follow instructions below:
Click on http://www.capwiz.com/aanr/dbq/media/ and it will take you directly to the media area. Click on the state that you are interested in and it will give you all the contacts in that state— print, radio, etc. It will let you check five at a time but you can send it as many times as you want. Once you have checked your five media outlets, go to bottom and you will see “compose message.” Copy and paste the release or your own message into that box. Be sure to include a subject and be sure to add your club information to the release. Give me a call at 800/879-6833, ext. 226, if you have any questions

Re: Travel: Military and/or Senior Deals and Discounts
For a military association’s general-interest magazine and Website with more than 400,000 circulation, I have an ongoing need for military and/or senior deals and discounts on hotels, resorts, travel attractions, cruises, tours, etc. If you sent me an offer a month or more ago, feel free to resend if it’s still valid. I receive many, many responses to this query and can’t always use every single deal right away. Then I’m reluctant to use “old” deals, as I don’t know if they are still valid. Before sending me your deal, please note the following important requirements to ensure I can use your offer: 1) Please be sure to clearly identify the deal/destination/location or attraction in the subject line. For example: “Maui Hotel Discount” or “Free theme park admission in Orlando.” Please don’t write a generic subject line (something like “Military Deal”), or it will get lost in the shuffle. 2) In your e-mail, please clearly answer the following: What is the deal/discount? What is the military (or senior) price? What is the regular price? Or what is the percentage or dollar amount off? What is the expiration date (important)? How can a person get this deal (what do they have to show, or what Web site do they have to visit, or what promotion code must they use, etc.)? What are the requirements for getting this discount (is it just for active or also retired military)? If it’s a senior discount, what is the age to qualify? If your e-mail does not have all this info, I’ll probably move on to the next one. 3) Then, please tell me about the destination/hotel/resort/cruise line, etc., to let readers know why they’d want to take advantage of the offer. Also let me know how to get photos (but don’t send photos at this time). No phone calls. Contact: Maryann Hammers at mahammers@aol.com. **
