World’s Largest Nude Polar Bear Swim

Best Wishes in 2008!

As this will probably be the last time that we talk this year, we
want to be sure to go out by wishing you our very, very best for a
prosperous new year in 2008. In observance of the New Year’s
holiday, the office will be closed on Monday and Tuesday of next
week, but will resume during regular hours on Wednesday.

AANR Helping Members and Clubs

This week our office prepared a letter of recommendation and package
of information for one of AANR’s non-landed clubs on the East coast.
The club is seeking to rent a community pool for after-hours nude
swims. Among the materials in the package, we included a copy of the
recent court decision involving the Skinnydippers’ swims at the
Surrey pool in Canada. As you may know, in that case the court found
no basis for denying a nudist group use of the pool.

AANR also fielded calls from a member who, after being seen in his
back yard nude, regrettably pleaded “no contest” to a serious charge
in the hopes that the matter would go away quietly. He is now
working to have that plea set aside after learning about unexpected
consequences for employment and his record.

Helen and Dave Landman Need Your Brochures

AANR-West is sponsoring a booth again this year at the famous
Quartzsite RV Show in Arizona in January. This show is the largest
gathering of RVs anywhere. The Landmans will man the booth and would
like to promote your club by passing out your brochures. Please send
the brochures (50 maximum) to Helen Landman, DeAnza Springs Resort,
1951 Carrizo Gorge Road, Jacumba, CA 91934, to arrive no later than
January 14, 2008.

Washington, D.C. (December 20, 2007) — America’s wonderfully diverse
outdoor recreation opportunities will be showcased and celebrated at
the Outdoor Recreation Village from January 31 to February 3, 2008,
at Westgate City Center (Glendale, AZ) in conjunction with the Big
Game.

AANR Government Affairs Washington, D.C. team member John Hunter
recommends that AANR members near Glendale, Ariz., should stop in and
give this a view, and then let us know their reactions. For the full
story, go to www.funoutdoors.com.

Wonderful Outdoor World Headquarters
Established in Scottsdale, Arizona

AANR Government Affairs was represented at the Grand Opening of the
Wonderful Outdoor World (WOW) national headquarters in December.
AANR GA-Arizona Beverly B. Price and AANR member Will Johnson
continued to build relationships with several members of the American
Recreation Coalition (ARC), including ARC President and CEO Derrick
Crandall during the event. The following story was printed in The
Arizona Republic: Program helps kids appreciate outdoors.

Biltmore Who’s Who
AANR West member Beverly B. Price, owner of Arizona Wildflowers, has
been selected to be listed in the Biltmore Who’s Who, probably
because of her activism for nudism as a lobbyist in Arizona. For
more information on the organization log onto: Biltmore Who’s Who.
Congratulation Bev and thank you for openly promoting nude recreation!

Polar Bare Plunge at Crescent Rock Beach
Skinnydipper Services Inc. is joining forces with Surrey’s other nude-
recreational organization, Surrey’s United Naturists (SUN), to co-
host the second annual Polar “Bare” Plunge at Crescent Rock Beach in
south Surrey. This clothing-optional swim will be held 200m south of
the Crescent Rock boulder, which is a 10-minute walk south from
Crescent Beach or a short walk down from the “101 Steps” staircase at
the west end of 24th Avenue.

This is a charity event with donations being collected for the War
Amps PLAYSAFE and CHAMPS programs benefiting childhood amputee
victims, highlighting the danger to pedestrians from the nearby BNSF
railway. We ask that everyone who attends, whether to swim or to
cheer on those brave enough to take the Plunge, to bring cash
donations for this important cause. Those walking to the swim are
reminded to stay on the beach path and keep off the train tracks.

A record of this swim with a list of participants will be forwarded
to the Guinness World Records for their consideration as the world’s
largest nude polar bear swim. The Polar Bare Plunge is Canada’s
original nude polar bear swim, and we wish to secure its place in
this record book for mass skinny-dipping on “Nude” Year’s Day. We ask
that all nudists and naturists throughout the Fraser Valley who
support the official recognition of Crescent Rock Beach as Surrey’s
version of Vancouver’s Wreck Beach to come out and attend this event.

The Polar Bare Plunge will start at noon on January 1st, 2008.
Registration is free and begins at 11:30 a.m. Being a nude swim, your
one-button bathing suit is the appropriate attire, but festive
clothing accessories or body paint are always welcome. Strap-on
sandals or aqua shoes are recommended for the rocky strip leading to
the sand. Prizes will be awarded for best costume, longest swim, plus
oldest and youngest swimmer. Hot chocolate and coffee will be
provided by Holy Smoke Coffee Co., White Rock’s finest organic coffee
shop.

NOTE: We ask that this news release not be forwarded to other media
sources as another release is planned for later this week for the
daily newspapers followed by a broader release to television and
radio outlets the day before the swim in order to maximize, dare we
say, exposure.
