We can now report that the issue is out on newsstands everywhere. You=92ll find the article on page 48.=20=20
We=92re VERY happy that the editors of this prestigious publication chose t= o reproduce one of the advertisements we ran in college newspapers EXACTLY as it appeared=85 including a graphic of our 75th Anniversary logo, our 1-800-TRY-NUDE phone number, and the Web site at www.aanr.com <http://www.aanr.com/> . The opportunity is perfect for AANR=92s brand as the credible voice of nude recreation as Forbes is one of the most credible financial periodicals.
Cindy Horton of AANR Staff in Hospital
We ask for your thoughts and prayers for our fellow staff member and friend Cindy Horton. Cindy entered the hospital this week and will undergo an operation on her lung this afternoon. We appreciate your patience in her getting back to you if you have e-mailed her recently as she will be out at least through the end of next week.
If you would like to send Cindy a card, please direct it to the AANR office as follows:
Cindy Horton Care of AANR 1703 North Main St.=20 Kissimmee, FL 34744
Thank you.
Minnesota Naturists make the news
Carolyn Hawkins, Patricia Orner, and I were pleased to meet this week with Don Kelly, President of the Minnesota Naturists, at the AANR office to discuss news articles about the club =93Swim & Fun Night=94 and the pool cl= osing at the Southview Athletic Club.=20
Don feels that the articles and especially the headlines are not fully accurate and feels that the closing of the pool was planned before the visi= t that sparked the media reports. The event has attracted families for years and a board decision has been made to seek another location offering aquatics. He does not intend a rebuttal article nor will he seek a retraction as he feels they often make things much worse.=20 =20
AANR Marketing Consultant Program Update By Sharon McLeod
You want simplicity, and AANR makes it so!=20
Do you have a question about the AANR Marketing Consultant program? S. B. 245
AANR and AANR Midwest urged our Ohio members to help in the following ways:
(1) Read the NAC alert and the bill
(2) Write and/or call your county sheriff and local political heads and ask them what the financial effect will be on your taxes if the state passe= s this bill as written. The state impact has been documented at a minimal $100,000 annual increase and the unknown effects on your local budgets have not been calculated.
(3) Write and/or call your state representatives and urge them to read th= e proposed language substitution at the hearing on Tuesday. AANR implemented through www.capwiz.com/aanr an alert allowing e-mails to all committee members with a few keystrokes. AANR Midwest President, Harvey Hanna, was th= e first AANR member to utilize this new dynamic grassroots tool. Harvey reported that it was fast and user friendly.
(4) Stand ready to show up at the public hearing on Tuesday, December 12 at 2:00 p.m. Harvey Hanna and a dedicated team of Ohio volunteers spent a very long day in committee chambers as the bill was not heard until close t= o 7:00 p.m. Testimony and details from Harvey will be in the February issue o= f The Bulletin.=20
(5) Call Mark Hammond, AANR Midwest GAT chair, at 517/741-7004 or Patrici= a Orner at 407/933-2064 with any questions on this alert.
The bill passed the committee without amendment and went on the Ohio House Calendar for third consideration on December 14, 2006.=20
AANR staff monitored the session, which is available for viewing at: http://www.ohiochannel.org/index.cfm?action=3Dmedia.legislative_session_det= ail s&program_id=3D26&session_id=3D91808 by clicking in Session #2 on the bill= . The bill passed 88 yea – 1 nay. Curiously, only 28 representatives elected to add their names to the title.=20
The efforts of this joint protest will not go unrewarded. The sheer fact that over 20 constituents sat face to face with the committee members and that reasonable and credible testimony was read into the record will fare well should this law have cause to be challenged. All volunteers deserve special thanks for support on such short notice. As GAT/CAT teams form and more volunteers experience the value of citizen participation (through live video training, personal attendance and tools like Capwiz) we will be bette= r positioned to be heard by our lawmakers.=20 =20
AANR DC =96 John Hunter attended an organizational meeting with ARC to plan 2007 activities supporting the increase of public lands usage by America=92= s youth. He has agreed to meet with the AANR/FANR delegation when we visit Tallahassee on Visit Florida Day this coming March.=20
The Daytona Beach News-Journal reported today:
Court rules in favor of topless protester <http://www.news-journalonline.com/NewsJournalOnline/News/Local/newEAST0112= 1 506.htm> =93The Ormond Beach grandmother who has challenged the city with topless protests won another court case Thursday when a judge ruled her breast-bearing demonstration outside Peabody Auditorium was not disorderly conduct.=94
WCANR – All is quiet this week in this region.
AANR EAST – All is quiet this week in this region.
AANR WEST =96 All is quiet this week in this region.
