AANR Weekly Report for September 15, 2006
Erich Schuttauf, Executive Director
Carolyn Hawkins Continues to Improve
I had an opportunity to see Carolyn briefly today at Cypress Cove where I attended a meeting. I'm very happy to report that, with the sun out, Carolyn was even more of herself. She started her rehabilitation classes this week to help strengthen her heart. Although she's improving, she gets a little down at times because she can't do all the things she likes to do. She asked me to again express her deepest appreciation for so many cards and gifts.
As a reminder, AANR is still available to assist you with your PR needs during Carolyn's absence. Please direct your requests to Steve Vickers at prasst@aanr.com or me.
AANR Helping Members
This week AANR has news regarding two member families involved in custody matters. First, we are very pleased to report a successful outcome in a case involving a member who is a grandmother in Florida. She sought assistance after her grandson's regular visits to their home nudist club with their mom triggered a sudden motion by their father to modify custody. AANR provided materials to this member's well-qualified counsel, and the judge overseeing the matter REFUSED to grant the motion and this family can continue to visit! We're now working with the member on a request for financial assistance to defray some costs associated with preparing for the hearing.
AANR also assisted another member-grandmother from a mid-Atlantic state facing similar issues associated with a grandson's visit. We arranged for a comprehensive package of legal information to be sent to her and have offered to work with counsel as needed.
Linda Berry, Director of Publications
The Bulletin
The October issue goes to the printer on Monday morning.
Patricia Orner – Government Affairs Coordinator
GAT CHAT
The regions reported the following on the last conference call:
NW – monitoring attempt to establish a nude beach at Magnuson Beach in Seattle, WA.
