Beach Clean-Up 8/5 & 8/6
The highlights:<br>Help clean up Rooster Rock beach on Saturday 8/5/06 and Sauvie Island beach on Sunday 8/6/06<br>Join us August 5, 2006 at Rooster Rock State Park 23 miles East of=20 Portland, Oregon.=20=20<br>Following the beach cleanup we will carpool/convoy to Mountaindale=20 Sun Resort in North Plains, Oregon.=20=20<br>The following moring we will convoy to Sauvie Island for a beach=20 clean up on August 6.=20=20<br>Mountaindale Sun Resort is offering free ground fees to beach=20 volunteers and a moderately priced evening meal to reward=20 volunteers. Thank you Mountaindale Sun Resort for you continued=20 AANR support advocating nudist rights on public lands.=20<br><br>The Full Story:<br> The American Association for Nude Recreation once again contributed=20 to SOLV's (one of Oregon's largest volunteers organizations) 11th=20 annual Down by the Riverside event. Down by the Riverside=20 originated after the floods of 1996, when Oregonians gathered to=20 cleanup the debris that had washed downstream and onto the=20 floodplains in the following 11 years.<br>This year AANR-NW members added their numbers to raise the total=20 number of volunteers statewide to over 15,000! Sara Ryan SOLV=20 employee writes that this event is the largest of its kind in the=20 United States and each year continues to grow in size and scope.=20=20 AANR-NW has committed volunteer time, energy and financial support=20 to contribute to the future growth of this event.<br>AANR-NW officially adopted a two and one-half mile stretch at=20 Rooster Rock State Park and Sauvie Island Collins Beach with all the=20 attendant rights and responsibilities on March 22, 2004. In addition=20 to the SOLV adoptions AANR-NW has officially adopted Rooster Rock=20 State Park by way of the Oregon State Park program "Adopt-A-Park."=20=20 AANR-NW initiated their participatiion in this event in 2003 before=20 the official adoption took place and values our working partnership=20 with SOLV.<br>AANR-NW has partnered with Volunteers of the Gorge for the past four=20 years and this has proved to be a great working relationship. Thank=20 you Volunteers of the Gorge for your insight, labor, time and=20 commitment to the clothing optional beach area at the Oregon State=20 Park-Rooster Rock clothing optional beach area.<br>AANR-NW dues paying members, Friends of AANR and AANR affiliated=20 clubs and resorts continue to financially support advocating nudist=20 rights on public lands and the AANR-NW shore cleanups. A special=20 thanks to AANR-NW affiliated clubs and resorts which include The=20 Central Oregon Tumbleweeds, Hidden Springs, Mountaindale Sun Resort=20 (formally Restful Haven), The Willamettans, Bare Backers Nudist=20 Club, Montana Naturist Organization, Bare Spirits, The Sun Club,=20 Forest Murmurs, Fraternity Snoqualmie, Kanisku Ranch, Sun Meadow,=20 SLUGS, Roque Sun Catchers, Sun Rovers, Lake Bronson, Zena's=20 Sanctuary, LARC, The Naturals, Squaw Mountain Ranch and Associate=20 Members for your on going support to advocate nudist rights on=20 public lands.<br>Who would have ever guessed that Sun Meadow resort hosts of the AANR- NW convention in 2007 in Worely, Idaho would have gained the first=20 members from the AANR sponsored beach cleanups in Oregon.
