We will re-open Tuesday through mid day Friday next week. We will be closed for New Year=92s on Monday, January 2, 2006.=20=20 =20 Please note that, due to a limited staff (I will be among those out of the office next week) and fewer developments over the holidays, we will not issue an Executive Director=92s report next Friday. =20 Update on Marketing Consultant=92s Program Carolyn Hawkins=92 report below includes some updated facts and figures of our developing program to train marketing consultants who will be available to travel to clubs and assist them with ideas for attracting new prospects, using media creatively, and closing sales. The faculty who will train these consultants are highly qualified marketing and branding experts. =20 As Carolyn=92s list of those AANR members interested in our program shows, they are highly qualified also. It is amazing to see the talent within our own ranks! =20 AANR helping AANR Members This week I received a sobering reminder about why AANR=92s advocacy efforts must be ongoing efforts—some proof that we are both doing things right, and have a long way to go towards our ultimate mission also. Specifically, I attended a hearing in Citrus County, Florida on behalf of an AANR member and her fianc=E9 who are facing legal difficulties after bringing her 15 and 13 year old children to an area AANR club. Armed with information that this had occurred, her ex-spouse prompted a court appointed guardian to pull these children out of school and interview them about their visits. =20 These children did not happen to have disrobed themselves and expressed only that it had been =93different=94 for them on their first visit to the club but now enjoyed accompanying their mom, opposing counsel and the third party court official used the comments as a basis for an emergency motion to (1) have the children barred from attending in the future; and (2) order that visitation to mom cease also. =20 As the motion was considered on Monday, I would like to be able to report that we won, hands down. After all, within Florida we have very helpful court opinions, professional research, and local laws that specifically recognize family nude recreation. On the other hand, there are still =93fronts=94 on which we wage an education and advocacy battle. In the end, materials which we furnished to our member=92s own legal counsel (whom we also played a role in educating about the law) helped her retain her right to visitation from her children with no personal aspersions cast on her fitness to be a mother. However, she has been asked to refrain from bringing them to the club=85at least for the near future.=20=20 =20 So we continue to win some (like the case of Ms. Johns whose story we brought to you weeks ago), to lose some, and in cases like Monday=92s both win and lose. I=92m pleased that on the more major issue—one=92s fitness to be a parent while also a practicing nudist we were successful. Frankly, I find it chilling that this suggestion was raised by a court guardian, even though the court passed on that suggestion. However, as in many cases, there were also some non-nudism related factors in this situation and not all lessons learned here will be directly applicable to future cases. =20 Instead, I raise this as a point that even within two hours=92 drive of our headquarters and four major nudist resorts, there are those who know little about us and who hold opinions without the benefit of the information that our advocacy efforts (in law and public relations) yield. =20 It makes me all the more grateful for you, our members, clubs and volunteers whose support makes what we do possible at a time of the year when we reflect on what we=92re thankful for.=20 =20 =20 =20 Linda Berry, Director of Publications =20 The Bulletin This week has been spent inputting club news, scheduling ads, and working on stories for the February issue, as well as archiving and billing for the January issue.=20 =20 =20 Club Spotlights The Bulletin had a whopping number of 32 clubs who want a spotlight in 2006. Since there are only 10 issues available for spotlights, this presented a real challenge. What we decided to do is to change the title of the feature to =93Discover the World of Nude Recreation.=94 It began with the January issue and features more than one club at a time. If you haven=92t heard from us regarding your club, don=92t worry because we will do our best to accommodate everyone who responded!=20 =20 Miscellaneous A new design for the magnet on the office van is in the works.=20 =20<br>Merry Christmas to All! =20 Carolyn Hawkins, Public Relations Coordinator=20 =20 There has been a tremendous response to the ad in The Bulletin regarding the consultant training. As of today we have had 32 inquiries and have received 16 applications or resumes. If you or you know someone who is interested in the consultant training, please let me know as soon as possible. The deadline for returning the information to the AANR office is January 6, 2006. The sooner it is received, the sooner the team can start reviewing. =20 I had the opportunity to work with Bill Martin at Natura in prepping for a spot on MSNBC. This aired at 11 PM on December 22 and I believe Bill did a good job. The topic was a =93Christian Nudist Resort=94. Bill was able to get a few scripture quotes in comfortably. =20 There was an article in the Orlando Sentinel on Wednesday, December 21 regarding special Christmas gifts. The American Assoc for Nude Recreation was mentioned as having gift certificates for clothing. =20 The January issue of Glamour Magazine is out. AANR did not get specifically mentioned, but our stats were used. There is a large section titled =93How to be shamelessly, happily, beautifully naked=94. =20 Thank you to the clubs who have already sent in their brochures for display on the cruise. If you or your club has not sent them and would like them displayed at the AANR table, be sure to get them to me as soon as possible. If you are going on the cruise feel free to carry them and bring them to the AANR booth. Please send them to AANR, 1703 North Main Street, Kissimmee, FL 34744, Attention – Carolyn=20=20 =20 Reminder —- book your room reservations for AANR=92s 75th anniversary celebration. This will be one you will not want to miss. The artistic figurines so popular at the 2005 auction are now available in the AANR lobby and sales are picking up.=20 =20 CAT on the prowl winner of the week(purrrrrrrr) =20 Willamettans Red Hat Society WOW! A great story of a CAT team success story was recently posted to our Government Affairs newsgroup by Shirley Gauthier.
