Unclad Art

By admin at 12:28 pm on | No comments
Unclad Art is a great art show that deals with "the Fine Art of the Figure"
This show has been put on at a small gallery on Camano Island (north of Seattle). We have had the privilege of having a nude viewing of the art show for three years now.
This year they are expanding the show at a larger gallery in Stanwood and would like a place to mount the show in Portland. Those of you in the Portland area, if you know of a gallery can you let me know? It would be great to have a nude showing in the Portland area too.
This is a wonderful show and the quality of the art is better every year (which is saying a lot since it started out very high quality). For more information about the show go to the link below.
http://uncladart.com/ <http://uncladart.com/>
Thank you, John Brower
President SLUGS

AANR Weekly Report for/12/23, 2005

By admin at 8:52 pm on December 23, 2005 | No comments

——=_NextPart_000_001F_01C6080B.3158BF40 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
AANR Weekly Report for/12/23, 2005 =20 Erich Schuttauf, Executive Director =20 Let me begin by wishing each and every one of you, our members, clubs, officers, trustees, and region officials, the very best for a safe, enjoyable, and very happy holiday as well as a prosperous year in 2006. =20 Office Hours In observation of the Christmas holiday and New Year=92s celebration, our office will close today at 12:00 p.m. and remain closed on Monday December 26. We will re-open Tuesday through mid day Friday next week. We will be closed for New Year=92s on Monday, January 2, 2006.=20=20 =20 Please note that, due to a limited staff (I will be among those out of the office next week) and fewer developments over the holidays, we will not issue an Executive Director=92s report next Friday. =20 Update on Marketing Consultant=92s Program Carolyn Hawkins=92 report below includes some updated facts and figures of our developing program to train marketing consultants who will be available to travel to clubs and assist them with ideas for attracting new prospects, using media creatively, and closing sales. The faculty who will train these consultants are highly qualified marketing and branding experts. =20 As Carolyn=92s list of those AANR members interested in our program shows, they are highly qualified also. It is amazing to see the talent within our own ranks! =20 AANR helping AANR Members This week I received a sobering reminder about why AANR=92s advocacy efforts must be ongoing efforts—some proof that we are both doing things right, and have a long way to go towards our ultimate mission also. Specifically, I attended a hearing in Citrus County, Florida on behalf of an AANR member and her fianc=E9 who are facing legal difficulties after bringing her 15 and 13 year old children to an area AANR club. Armed with information that this had occurred, her ex-spouse prompted a court appointed guardian to pull these children out of school and interview them about their visits. =20 These children did not happen to have disrobed themselves and expressed only that it had been =93different=94 for them on their first visit to the club but now enjoyed accompanying their mom, opposing counsel and the third party court official used the comments as a basis for an emergency motion to (1) have the children barred from attending in the future; and (2) order that visitation to mom cease also. =20 As the motion was considered on Monday, I would like to be able to report that we won, hands down. After all, within Florida we have very helpful court opinions, professional research, and local laws that specifically recognize family nude recreation. On the other hand, there are still =93fronts=94 on which we wage an education and advocacy battle. In the end, materials which we furnished to our member=92s own legal counsel (whom we also played a role in educating about the law) helped her retain her right to visitation from her children with no personal aspersions cast on her fitness to be a mother. However, she has been asked to refrain from bringing them to the club=85at least for the near future.=20=20 =20 So we continue to win some (like the case of Ms. Johns whose story we brought to you weeks ago), to lose some, and in cases like Monday=92s both win and lose. I=92m pleased that on the more major issue—one=92s fitness to be a parent while also a practicing nudist we were successful. Frankly, I find it chilling that this suggestion was raised by a court guardian, even though the court passed on that suggestion. However, as in many cases, there were also some non-nudism related factors in this situation and not all lessons learned here will be directly applicable to future cases. =20 Instead, I raise this as a point that even within two hours=92 drive of our headquarters and four major nudist resorts, there are those who know little about us and who hold opinions without the benefit of the information that our advocacy efforts (in law and public relations) yield. =20 It makes me all the more grateful for you, our members, clubs and volunteers whose support makes what we do possible at a time of the year when we reflect on what we=92re thankful for.=20 =20 =20 =20 Linda Berry, Director of Publications =20 The Bulletin This week has been spent inputting club news, scheduling ads, and working on stories for the February issue, as well as archiving and billing for the January issue.=20 =20 =20 Club Spotlights The Bulletin had a whopping number of 32 clubs who want a spotlight in 2006. Since there are only 10 issues available for spotlights, this presented a real challenge. What we decided to do is to change the title of the feature to =93Discover the World of Nude Recreation.=94 It began with the January issue and features more than one club at a time. If you haven=92t heard from us regarding your club, don=92t worry because we will do our best to accommodate everyone who responded!=20 =20 Miscellaneous A new design for the magnet on the office van is in the works.=20 =20
Merry Christmas to All! =20 Carolyn Hawkins, Public Relations Coordinator=20 =20 There has been a tremendous response to the ad in The Bulletin regarding the consultant training. As of today we have had 32 inquiries and have received 16 applications or resumes. If you or you know someone who is interested in the consultant training, please let me know as soon as possible. The deadline for returning the information to the AANR office is January 6, 2006. The sooner it is received, the sooner the team can start reviewing. =20 I had the opportunity to work with Bill Martin at Natura in prepping for a spot on MSNBC. This aired at 11 PM on December 22 and I believe Bill did a good job. The topic was a =93Christian Nudist Resort=94. Bill was able to get a few scripture quotes in comfortably. =20 There was an article in the Orlando Sentinel on Wednesday, December 21 regarding special Christmas gifts. The American Assoc for Nude Recreation was mentioned as having gift certificates for clothing. =20 The January issue of Glamour Magazine is out. AANR did not get specifically mentioned, but our stats were used. There is a large section titled =93How to be shamelessly, happily, beautifully naked=94. =20 Thank you to the clubs who have already sent in their brochures for display on the cruise. If you or your club has not sent them and would like them displayed at the AANR table, be sure to get them to me as soon as possible. If you are going on the cruise feel free to carry them and bring them to the AANR booth. Please send them to AANR, 1703 North Main Street, Kissimmee, FL 34744, Attention – Carolyn=20=20 =20 Reminder —- book your room reservations for AANR=92s 75th anniversary celebration. This will be one you will not want to miss. For information on rooms at DeAnza as well as local hotel information, call DeAnza at 619-766-4301, or 877-246-6833 =20 Have a wonderful Holiday Season and I wish you all the best for the New Year. =20 Patricia Orner, Government Affairs Coordinator=20 =20 Plans for the 2006 silent (well maybe not quite so silent) auction at De Anza Springs are already underway. The artistic figurines so popular at the 2005 auction are now available in the AANR lobby and sales are picking up.=20 =20 CAT on the prowl winner of the week(purrrrrrrr) =20 Willamettans Red Hat Society WOW! A great story of a CAT team success story was recently posted to our Government Affairs newsgroup by Shirley Gauthier. She relays a powerful example of the Willamettans club making a community impact on behalf of a shelter for young mothers.=20=20 =20 Be sure to watch for the =93rest of the story=94 in an upcoming issue of The Bulletin. =20 Take Pride In America (TPIA) RECEIVED THIS WEEK FROM TPIA =20 Dear Friends of Take Pride:=20 We are pleased to bring you our November 2005 edition of the Take Pride in America Newsletter, "In Touch with Take Pride!" We encourage you to pass this newsletter along to your colleagues and friends. AANR Weekly Report – 12 16, 2005

By admin at 4:54 pm on December 16, 2005 | No comments
Erich Schuttauf, Executive Director
Last Chance to Win a Cruise Aboard Bare Necessities
You could be the lucky winner of a trip for two aboard Bare Necessities upcoming cruise this winter. The best part of winning this prize is the luxurious cabin that comes with it– specifically on the Veranda deck. Those of you who have traveled on a cruise before know that such staterooms are among the nicest offered. In all, the package is worth over $5,500.and you can purchase a chance to win it for as little as $5 online at www.aanr.com <http://www.aanr.com/> . Best of all, each donation goes completely to help fund AANR's Government Affairs Team efforts to advocate for Nude Recreation in North America.
But time is running out. The drawing will close on Monday morning and the winner will be selected on Wednesday. Don't miss your chance to win the trip of a lifetime and support your Team. Just look for the link that says "Win a Cruise" on our main page.
Update on Training Consultants Project
Last week we reported on an exciting new training program to take place the first weekend of February 2006. With it, AANR members who already have expertise in communications and/or marketing receive all expense paid travel to Orlando, Florida where they will receive one day of intensive training in four areas integral to marketing (and outright selling!) nude recreation. In turn, these volunteers agree to visit at least 5 AANR clubs during the winter, spring, and early summer of 2006 to pass on this valuable information to our clubs.
We're very pleased to report that, to date, we have about twenty applicants for the program. Frankly, these folks come with some great credentials and it's great to see so much talent within the ranks of our membership.
We're also pleased to report that those selected will be staying in some very nice accommodations—thanks to hard work from AANR Public Relations Coordinator Carolyn Hawkins. She has arranged a package deal with the very tastefully appointed Holiday Inn Airport Express & Suites of Orlando to get us great rooms (plus the use of a conference room for an introductory meeting on Thursday February 2d) at very favorable rates. Carolyn has also helped us line up ground transportation to the offices of AANR's PR firm Yesawich, Pepperdine, Brown, & Russell where the training will take place. Participants can also expect some great food during the training, with fare from some great local restaurants that we're lining up.
What about you or an AANR friend you know? Would you be willing to commit to five club visits and could you be available for training between Thursday, February 2 (travel day) and Saturday February 4th? If so, we invite you to apply by e-mailing to Carolyn Hawkins at pubaffairs@aanr.com or phone her toll free at 1-800-TRY-NUDE. She will send you a complete package with an overview memo describing the program, plus an application form. (AANR will also accept a written resume if that's more convenient.) We look forward to announcing those selected for the program in just a few weeks!
AANR Gets Local Media Coverage
This week brought two opportunities for the AANR office to garner great press for the Association.
Share Your Christmas — First, as it has for twelve years, the staff participated in WESH TV's Share Your Christmas food drive. Staff brought in canned and dry goods over several weeks and, on Thursday this week, Carolyn Hawkins and I presented the foodstuffs at the Station's drop-off location.
In commemoration of AANR's 75th anniversary, the Association also purchased 75 cans of tuna fish — a staple listed on WESH's list of needed items. WESH Channel 2 is the Orlando area NBC affiliate. At the drop off, volunteers assisted Carolyn and me with creating a large "75" out of these cans, which then appeared on local television along with a close-up of AANR's auto magnet inviting folks to skinny dip with us, plus comments from Carolyn.
We rounded out our visit by presenting local television celebrities with AANR lapel pins.
Orlando Sentinel plug slated some time next week. AANR also got a plug from the area's largest newspaper, who called to inquire about whether members purchase memberships for their friends as a holiday gift. The interview provided Carolyn Hawkins with a great opportunity to talk about the many products, gifts, and information available on the www.aanr.com <http://www.aanr.com/> website. Expect a mention in the Sentinel between December 19 and 23.
New Content Available on AANR.com
While we're on the subject of the Association's website, please know that all-new material for our members and clubs is now available this week. For starters, there's the latest edition of the Cyber-Bulletin, with updates on the traveling Ilsley's visit to Pine Tree club in Maryland. In our members' only Bulletin Extra's section, you'll find recipes with which to celebrate the new nude year, plus tips for meeting your new year's fitness resolutions. The Kidz Zone offers new perspectives from nudist youth, plus puzzles and games. The popular brochures section of our download zone features a great revised "What Does AANR Do For Me?" brochure in a style that matches the website.
Finally, we're about to celebrate a milestone on the website — One year of the new design, plus 3,000 registered AANR members using our message boards alone. That's right: As of this afternoon, 2,964 active members have registered to read and post messages.
Dear Abby Provides Another Reminder of Why We Need AANR
Does Dear Abby's column appear in your morning newspaper? If so, you 05 have seen a topic on or about Thursday, December 15th that's a sobering reminder of why it's critical to have a voice of advocacy for nude recreation like AANR.
Responding to a previous rant from a mother-in-law about a father of two daughters who prefers to remain nude for some time after showering (there's some mention of a medical reason that also supports his wish to do this), letters ranged from supporting dad to vitriolic threats. Most of the "support" came from people who had been raised, or at least spent time, outside of the U.S. Encouragement also came from a woman who wrote that she'd been raised with a similar, casual approach to nudity and was now a healthy well-adjusted 30-something living in Crossville Tennessee (Do we have a Cherokee Lodge member here?)
But the letters that stormed in from angry people expressed a different, chilling, sentiment. "This is child [sex] abuse" wrote one "mental health expert" from the North East. Another writer suggested that the mother-in-law film him naked and air video tape to other family and friends so as to shame him out of "parading naked." Still others suggested that a mental health evaluation is in order.
As your Executive Director, I have to ask: Why is it that whenever a person prefers to stay au naturel — even in their very own home behind closed doors–for a morning cup of coffee, or like this man, after a shower that they're labeled as "parading" naked? I don't know about you but it's unsettling to me to read that many people are so adamant that simple home nudity is abusive or reflective of a mental condition. After all, isn't this how we de-stress, be it in our favorite club or our own fenced yard?
I'll grant a couple of things in this case. First, none of us has all the facts. There may, for example, be family members who regularly see dad and express strong discomfort with his nudity. That would give pause for some reflection. Second, I'll grant that nearly an equal number of support letters were printed alongside the detractors. Still, I wonder whether, when a suggestion for tougher in-home nudity laws is proposed (as, for example, was recently proposed in Ohio in a bill re-worked with the help of a lobbyist supported from AANR, AANR Midwest, and NAC funds), would there be enough voices to drown out those who'd threaten our cherished form of living and recreation?
If you'd like to read the column, click here: http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/news/columnists/134 06080.htm
Linda Berry, Director of Publications
The Bulletin
The January issue is printed and in the mail to you. Please look for an all-new look and let us know what you think.
Deadline Approaching
Please remember that Tuesday, December 20, is the deadline for Club Happenings, Coming Events, and Advertisements. Because of the holiday work schedule, NO LATE SUBMISSIONS WILL BE PRINTED.
AANR Directory Available
Club Liaison Nanette Wickersham has the new directory available. Please contact her at clubinfo@aanr.com if you would like a copy.
Carolyn Hawkins, Public Relations Coordinator
The AANR staff participated for the 12th year in our Channel 2's "Share Your Christmas" program. Each year Erich and I get the chance to deliver the food in exchange for 10 – 15 seconds spot on channel 2. This year we delivered our usual box of food, but also included 75 cans of tuna in commemoration of our 75th anniversary. "75" was spelled out, and Erich displayed the large magnet.
I am still working toward the Montel Williams Show, but nothing definite yet.
The January issue of Glamour Magazine is out. AANR did not get specifically mentioned, but our stats were used. There is a large section titled "How to be shamelessly, happily, beautifully naked."
Thank you to the clubs who have already sent in their brochures for display on the cruise. If you or your club have not sent them and would like them displayed at the AANR table, be sure to get them to me as soon as possible. If you are going on the cruise feel free to carry them and bring them to the AANR booth. Please send them to AANR, 1703 North Main Street, Kissimmee, FL 34744, Attention Carolyn
Reminder: book your room reservations for AANR's 75th anniversary celebration. This will be one you will not want to miss. For information on rooms at DeAnza as well as local hotel information, call DeAnza at 619-766-4301, or 877-246-6833
Patricia Orner, Government Affairs Coordinator
CAT on the Prowl
Sunspots – If left untreated, can become unsightly and embarrassing. -Continuing this CAT project I met with Regis at Cypress Cove and full details of this will be available in the Feb-March edition of the Cypress Knee.
Thanks to Laguna Del Sol – $500 from a single CAT raffle – (purrrrr) I can't wait to hear what they clever kitties will be doing next.
Community Awareness Team projects are those opportunities (some of which require thinking outside of the box) that will inform, educate, interest, and lure club members into becoming active. They often require that they provide an immediate source of gratification (my club really cares about my well being) or (I can take 1-4 day trips to Jacksonville and someone will pay me $25 a trip and I just might find a treatment for my sunspots). They always need someone who will be available to spot the possibilities and probably a few more to follow through on them. They will result in positive things (like GAT volunteers) or (articles in The Bulletin) or just a happy member. CAT projects are really important. If your club has a CAT – please let me know. If you want to start a CAT – let me know. If you want me to let you know if I come across an opportunity – let me know.
This Week in the States
There are 5 states, DC and US in Regular Session. There are 2 states in Special Session.

Many of us refer to the springs as Cougar Hot Springs. Cougar hot springs located near Blue River are about a 1-=BD hour scenic drive from The Willamettans Family Nudist Resort located in Marcola, Oregon. Directions and ore information about Cougar can be located at
=20
http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/willamette/recreation/tripplanning/d ayuse/terwilliger_hot_springs.html=20
=20
The announcement of privatizing the hot springs was met by concern and questions. The contract was awarded to Hoodoo Recreational Services. We immediately contact Greg Thorne of Friends of Cougar and Chuck Sheppard, President of Hoodoo Recreation.
=20
Chuck welcomed meetings and dialog and it was clear from the beginning that Chuck was a friend of AANR. A one- year probationary period contracted between Hoodoo Recreational Services and the USFS afforded everyone the time to voice concern, questions and compliments.
=20
We are very happy to report that Hoodoo Recreational Services has accepted another one-year contract with the USFS to manage Cougar Hot Springs. We value our working partnership with Chuck Sheppard and thank him for his commitment to maintaining Cougar Hot Springs. Learn more about Hoodoo and Chuck at http://www.hoodoo.com/.
Be sure to check out Chuck=92s page on the left hand side of the home page.
=20
Give some thought to visiting the Willamettans Family Nudist Resort, (1/2 price winter rate ground fees), skiing at Hoodoo and ending your day with a nice soak at Cougar Hot Springs. Remember when visiting Cougar the $5 day pass fee and bring a plastic bag for any litter you 05 find while hiking in or out of the springs. AANR Weekly Report for 12/9/2005

By admin at 12:55 pm on December 9, 2005 | No comments

AANR Weekly Report for 12/9/2005=20
Erich Schuttauf, Executive Director
TANR Conference at Caliente a Success
Last week I wrote you from the road explaining that the Trade Association for Nude Recreation=92s annual conference was in progress. I can now report that the event was a strong success, drawing about 30 attendees from various clubs who serve as owners and/or business managers. They shared best practices and information on a variety of subjects that can, in turn, benefit clubs throughout AANR. A more detailed description with photos from the event will appear in an issue of The Bulletin in Spring 2006. For more information on that association, see www.tanr.com <http://www.tanr.com/> .=20
Thanks for Your Responses to AANR=92s Question of the Week!
Last week we launched the first of what we hope will be a series of the AANR Question of the week by asking:
On approaching AANR=92s 75th anniversary, it is fitting to reflect on the past half century. During this time period, which consumer or industry trends have had a profound impact and/or shaped the future of acceptance of nude recreation?
We appreciated hearing from Jim in the Midwest with his suggestion that the beginning of Bare Necessities cruises, and the mainstream nude cruise market, was a major turning point.
I=92ll add to the =93pot=94 with an offering of my own: The 1958 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Sunshine Press v. Summerfield. This was the precedent setting case that ruled, once and for all, that nudist magazines were not obscene. Within weeks of the Sunshine Press ruling the U.S. Postal Service extended second class mailing privileges to nudist periodicals like Sunshine and Health. AANR=92s monthly publication, The Bulletin, benefits from such decisions to this day. Indeed, it=92s one of the reasons that the lead plaintiff in the case, the late Rev. Ilsley Boone, is being memorialized with the traveling Ilsley award, which is being hosted by various AANR clubs during our year-long 75th Anniversary celebration. (For more information on Ilsley=92s latest travels, visit www.aanr.com <http://www.aanr.com/> and click =93Where=92s Ilsley.=94)
While we=92re on the subject of input from clubs, we=92d also like to thank those of you who wrote to echo Desert Fountain Inn=92s warnings about possible Internet scams from those booking travel with a fraudulent check while requesting a refund before the check bounces. Your messages indicated several variations on the theme, including those who overpay with a bad check and merely request a refund on the overpayment. By passing on your knowledge to your fellow club owners and officers, we 05 have spared them from falling prey.
How about you? Do you have any other tips and/or milestones for our question of the week that come to mind? We=92ll renew the question for one more week to give you time to share your thoughts with us.
Trained Consultants Program to be Launched in Early 2006
You 05 have noticed that page 3 of your December 2005 issue of The Bulletin includes a half page color advertisement from AANR seeking =93Consultants =96 Educators =96 and Facilitators=94 for a Volunteer Opportunity. That ad notes that we seek =93volunteers with experience in training and working with businesses for an exciting new project vital to the future of nudism and the Association=92s mission.=94 Requirements for the position include=85 =93current AANR membership, strong communication skills, the ability to travel, and a working knowledge of marketing concepts.=94
So just what is this exciting new project? Well, in recognition of the fact that (1) membership sales have been relatively flat for a couple of years; (2) that AANR=92s strength as a brand is its role as the credible voice of reason for nude recreation; (3) that marketing experts like the team at Yesawich, Pepperdine, Brown, and Russell suggest we leverage that strength by providing more how-to information to our clubs; and (4) that our clubs are calling for more assistance with sales and marketing resources this project answers.
On Friday, February 3, 2006 (Thursday the 2d and Saturday the 4th are for travel) AANR will bring from 12 =96 14 experienced volunteers to Orlando, Florida for intensive training on branding, closing sales, demographic trends, and promoting clubs on a very limited budget through specific PR techniques. Airfare, lodging, and meals are included as part of this intensive training.
These highly qualified volunteers (who must commit to working with at least five clubs through the spring and early summer of 2006) will in turn be available to visit and assist AANR clubs with on-site consulting sessions. Reasonable travel in 2006 will be reimbursed by the Association.
The program is made possible by generous support from the following regions:
AANR East – $15,000
AANR Northwest – $ 4,000
AANR West – $10,000
If you or someone you know would like to apply for this prestigious program, we invite you to send a resume to/or request an application from Carolyn Hawkins by e-mailing her at pubaffairs@aanr.com. We look forward to bringing valuable information and people to our clubs.
Many Thanks for your Holiday Cards and Goodies
We deeply appreciate the number of you who have sent your warm wishes during this holiday season to our headquarters in Kissimmee. We enjoy reading and receiving them from across the continent. For those of you sending food=85 maybe we won=92t be thanking you when it comes time to work off the extra pounds in January!=20
In Memory of Fred Allan
For those who wish to make donations in memory of Fred Allan, please send them to his wife Drew, or to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 12502 Pine Drive, Tampa, FL 33612.=20
Linda Berry, Director of Publications
The Bulletin
The January issue is about ready to go to press.
=20 Carolyn Hawkins, Public Relations Coordinator=20
AANR Convention
If you need room reservations for AANR=92s 75th anniversary convention at DeAnza Springs, please be sure to contact them at 619/766-4301, or 877/246-6833 to reserve your space. We expect this to be a largely attended celebration.
Council of State Governments
Steve Vickers and I had the opportunity to attend and exhibit at the Council of State Governments, (CSG) in Wilmington, Delaware. The show was very successful. We had the chance to speak to legislators, senators, as well as many others. We were asked questions about families, and it is good to have Steve there to talk about growing up at a nudist resort. We are very well accepted at this show.
There are various side trips offered to attendees, such as shopping trips, visits to museums, etc. Since next year=92s Council will be held in Phoenix, Arizona, I thought that it would be a great idea to offer a side trip to Shangri La Ranch. Surprisingly the representatives agreed. We have a year to work on putting something together, and I look forward to our participation.
I am still working toward the Montel Williams Show, but nothing definite yet.=20=20
We finalized our comments for Glamour Magazine. This will be about the growth of nude recreation and it will be in the January 2006 issue.=20
Another reminder — the nude cruise is quickly approaching. If you or your club would like club brochures displayed at the AANR table, be sure to get them to me as soon as possible. If you are going on the cruise feel free to carry them and bring them to the AANR booth. Please send them AANR, 1703 North Main Street, Kissimmee, FL 34744, Attention – Carolyn=20=20
A special thank-you is extended to Bob Erlenmeyer, AANR Trustee from FANR . Last Friday, Bob drive four hours (each way) to work the AANR table at the I-95 Welcome Center for the FLA USA Fall Festival. FLA USA provides us with a complimentary table, and we are able to pass out AANR brochures. Bob said that he greeted many of our members, and they were really excited to see AANR there.=20
Patricia Orner, Government Affairs Coordinator=20
CAT on the Prowl
Reading the Orlando Sentinel I spotted an ad with the headline =93Sunspots =96 If left untreated, can become unsightly and embarrassing.=94 Reading on and looking at my arms, I came to the conclusion that I (and many of my friends and neighbors at Cypress Cove) might in fact suffer from Tinea Versicolor so I called and spoke to nice young man named Joseph. When I told him where I live and where I work =96 he said a friend of his and his wife vacation often at Cypress Cove and have invited him and his wife to go with them. After letting me know that he was still not sure he could ever visit =96 but agreed that residents at a place like =93that=94 could easily be what they were looking for — and based on a verbal description he felt I would qualify.
My CAT whiskers were twitching as he had an appointment set to screen me as a candidate for a clinical research study being conducted in Clermont and Jacksonville, Florida. I chose Clermont. The study pays =93compensation up to $100 for time and travel and four clinic visits are required: a baseline evaluation – 14 days later revisit and obtain more cr=E8me – 14 days after that revisit and 28 days later last visit. I met with Barbara Hadley (owner of Cypress Cove) and she agreed that if the program looked to be valid =96 I should give the details to Ted (manager of Cypress Cove) and they would see if their members would be interested.=20
WHY you 05 ask were my CAT whiskers twitching? Next time I will report on how this one is working out. If your club has a CAT =96 please let me know. If you want to start a CAT =96 let me know. If you want me to let you know if I come across an opportunity =96 let me know.=20
=20

AANR Weekly Report for/12/2, 2005

By admin at 12:56 pm on | No comments
AANR Weekly Report for/12/2, 2005 ________________________________
Erich Schuttauf, Executive Director
I trust that you all enjoyed a warm Thanksgiving holiday with your friends and family last week.
TANR Meeting in Progress
I am filing this week's report "from the road" as I join about 30 representatives from various nudist clubs and businesses for the annual meeting of the Trade Association for Nude Recreation. TANR is meeting at Caliente Resort and there is a full slate of speakers lined up on topics from risk management to marketing.
Suzanne Schell of Laguna del Sol currently serves as TANR's President, and AANR serves as its administrative agent, handling office functions.
Question of the Week
Per the suggestion from a number of you, we'd like to pose a question of the week to clubs and invite answers which we can report in future weeks. This week's question is:
On approaching AANR's 75th anniversary, it is fitting to reflect on the past half century. During this time period, which consumer or industry trends have had a profound impact and/or shaped the future of acceptance of nude recreation?
Please send your answers to Linda Berry at editor@aanr.com.
Advisory
Desert Fountain Inn in California has made AANR aware of a situation and has asked us to report it to you. Here's the scenario that Desert Fountain Inn encountered:
Bob Clemons requested information for lodging for 10 days for 2 female and 2 male adults. He then states that "I am a very busy missionary so I travel a lot, presently I'm in Australia.I will direct our mission trip sponsor in USA to send you money orders to the tune of $5,000 so upon clearance of the money orders, you will deduct your money and then remit the balance to my other members of the my team in London via western union money transfer." Instead of receiving a money order, Desert Fountain Inn received a $5,000 check from Joel Scott for "payment for accommodation on Bob Clemon's behalf." The check was from a bank in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The check was deposited but was returned to maker unpaid. Bob Clemons was notified. He apologized and said his sponsor would send a cashier's check in replacement. No cashier's check has been received to date.
Please contact Desert Fountain Inn if you have any questions, or let AANR know if you encounter any similar situations.
New Documents on AANR.com
The minutes of the November 2005 Board of Trustees, along with the committee reports, have been posted to the Club Services and Member Benefits area of the Web site. The updated procedure manual, official forms, and bylaws are there as well.
Sad News
We received word that FANR Director Fred Allen had passed away on November 29. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
TIA (Travel Industry of America) Releases Forecast for Travel Spending and Volume
The following information from the Travel Industry of America came to us by way of our contacts at AANR's public relations firm, YPB&R. It 05 be useful to our clubs as they revise business plans for 2006:
Healthy Performance for 2005; Cause for Concern in 2006
TIA Releases Forecast for Travel Spending and Volume
Washington, D.C., November 2005
According to the Travel Industry Association of America's (TIA) http://www.tia.org/ Annual Travel Forecast, 2005 will turn out to be a good year for the U.S. travel industry, with leisure travel by U.S. residents rising 4 percent this year and international travel to the U.S. jumping 7 percent.
Spending by domestic and international travelers will increase 7.8 percent for full-year 2005 to nearly $646 billion. However, slow growth in fourth quarter 2005–a trend that is expected to continue through the first quarter of 2006–is expected to contribute to a modest growth forecast for full-year 2006.
Leisure travel volume is forecasted to increase just 2 percent in 2006, while international travel to the U.S. will rise 5.5 percent. Compared to 2005, the growth in travel spending by domestic and international visitors will increase a more modest 4.4 percent in 2006 to $674 billion.
Domestic business travel is likely to be constrained in the final months of 2005 and the first quarter of 2006. This is due to weak CEO confidence, much slower growth in corporate profits, and rising travel costs. TIA is forecasting a 1 percent increase in business travel volume for 2005 and a 1.6 percent increase for 2006. On a more positive note, a number of experts at TIA's recent Marketing Outlook Forum were rather optimistic about the outlook for meetings and group business travel.
"The industry is holding strong but a number of indicators, such as vacillating consumer confidence, waning CEO confidence and an expected sharp rise in energy costs are having an effect on consumer and business attitudes. As a result, we're starting to see signs of a more cautious consumer when it comes to travel," said Dr. Suzanne Cook, senior vice president of research for the Travel Industry Association of America. "I don't expect Americans to stop traveling; I simply think they will be more careful when it comes to making travel decisions."
Media can obtain the TIA Annual Travel Forecast by sending an e-mail to ckeefe@tia.org. Travel Industry Association of America (TIA) is the national, non-profit organization representing all components of the $600 billion travel industry.
Linda Berry, Director of Publications
The Bulletin
Your copy of the December issue should have reached you by now. When you look back over The Year in Review, it's amazing what AANR has accomplished in one short year. Be sure to check The Cyber-Bulletin for Ilsley's arrival at Serendipity Park.
Sold!
Paradise Lakes has purchased the "featured clubs" ad space that was available on the AANR web site. Check it out at http://www.aanr.com/top_featured_clubs.html. Thanks Joe! If your club is interested in a spot, let Martha Young know and she can put you on the waiting list.
Board Meeting and Photo Shoot
The merchandise photo shoot after the board meeting was great! Thanks are extended to everyone who participated. Our photographers were: Gary Spangler (board meeting and merchandise), Sharon McLeod and Don Berry (merchandise).
Carolyn Hawkins, Public Relations Coordinator
Council of State Governments
Carolyn Hawkins and Steve Vickers are working the AANR booth at the Council of State Governments in Wilmington, Delaware. She will give a full report when she returns next week.
Patricia Orner, Government Affairs Coordinator
A year ago I started this project of weekly reports with the following:
The AANR Fall Board Meeting at Cypress Cove was a huge success and the future of Government Affairs was a hot topic. Alonzo Stevens' committee report highlighted an aggressive plan. Washington lobbyist Don Murphy was a featured speaker. Don explained the need to have lawmakers and politicians get to know their constituents who are AANR members before they make decisions and/or comments about nude recreation and life styles. This will require expansion of the Government Affairs Volunteer Resource Team. In January we will work on developing a data base of volunteers in all states and Canada who can be alerted by the type of service they wish to render at the local, state and/or federal level. We especially need to know who knows who, who plays golf with whom and whose name will get a politicians ear and would be willing to place a call. We need members to be our eyes and our ears and others to help us voice AANR positions.
A year later as we look at the end of 2005 and get ready to plunge into 2006 I have really learned why every nudist should support AANR GAT. Before the pre-files really get in full swing – the papers are full of issues that are, will, would, could and 05 have an affect on our culture. The number of Web sites speaking about "nudity" are so many that no one person working full time could ever read them daily. Blood banks want to lower the donation age to 16 – while some states want to prohibit those under 21 from working where there is nudity. Intelligent design is not always defined by the most intelligent and will almost certainly make its way into the state and federal issues in 2006-7. The Library of Congress has launched a campaign to create the World Digital Library "a cooperative undertaking in which each culture can articulate its own cultural identity ." and I hope that there will be a place for the nudist culture in it somewhere.
I am thankful that I have an opportunity to be a part – however small – of this most important team.
