[MK] Sorry this is late — I was at the AANR-NW board meeting this past weekend. ———————————————————— —————————————- AANR Weekly Report for Sept 23, 2005
Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose.
From the desk of Erich Schuttauf, Executive Director – Execdir@aanr.com
Erich has been out of the office the latter part of this past week on business and will be back on Wednesday, Sept 28. His dad continues to make his recovery back to health.
From the desk of Pat Plumstead, Executive Assistant – Exoffice@aanr.com
A Conversation That Ends With HOPE
Over the past 10 days, I have been in contact with Jean Peterson, a member of LA Pines Ranch, Lacombe, LA. Jean's husband is the VP of Operations at LA Pines Ranch. When I first spoke to Jean, she described a club that was under water. Her home was the club. When I asked what can AANR do for you – she replied "I don't know, until the water goes down, I have no idea what we will need. I'm sure we'll need everything." Several days went by before Jean called to let us know that finally the water was gone and the tree removal had begun. She told us that the electric company was giving them gas for their generators, the club house was gone as well as the club pick up truck. Bill Schmidt, LA Pines owner who is an elderly gentleman comes out and while the members are clearing the land of debris, he knows in his heart that his club will come back – and his members know that too. Jean said – "we know we're on the road back and we hope and we pray and talking to you people is like a breath of fresh air."
If your club wishes to help LA Pines, please send gift cards or checks to LA Pines Fund Raising C/O Flo Huber, Treasurer PO Box 249 Robert, LA 70455. Receipts will be furnished for donations.
AANR's 75th birthday year is underway, and we want to keep you in touch with what's happening.
From notifying your club about articles and interviews published in mainstream media to upcoming AANR anniversary events–even the latest on the Ilsley's travels–we'd like to get this information to you and your members as quickly as possible.
To accomplish this, we want to send information directly to the people in your club that communicate with your members and community. If you own, manage or are considering purchasing a business in the nude recreation industry, plan on attending the 2005 Trade Association for Nude Recreation Annual Conference at Caliente from 11 30 – 12 3, 2005. Ideas, information, seminars, great food, excellent accommodations and the opportunity to network with the leaders of the nudist community are a just a few of the reasons to attend this exciting event. While at Assateague, I spoke to a radio talk show host, John Hamilton "On the Go", KGO-AM in San Francisco. The interview was regarding the growth of nude recreation, and very positive. ——=_NextPart_000_0091_01C5BA4A.F732E060 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

Hidden Springs nude swims and bare bowling

With summer nearing its end it is time to focus on fall and Hidden Springs has several activities planned for this fall and winter.

Nude swims are continuing during the fall and winter season with the first event being held on Sunday October 23 from 7 pm until 9 pm. The venue has a sports pool at a nice 87 degrees, two hot tubs, two saunas (set at different temperatures) several racquetball courts and a volleyball court. The cost for this event is $10 per person for AANR/TNS members or $12 per person for non AANR/TNS members when pre-registering. This is a non-refundable registration, unless Hidden Springs cancels the event. If you don't want to pre-register, then the cost at the door is $15 per person for AANR/TNS members or $17 per person for non AANR/TNS members.

We have also been able to secure a bowling alley for nude bowling and its first event will be on Sunday November 13 from 8 until 10 pm. The cost for the bowling event is $10 per person including shoe rental. Please be advised that when renting shoes, socks must be worn and they can be rented from the bowling alley if needed. For those of you that have been bowling with us over the last two years, you will not recognize the place. It is currently being remodeled and is finished when our event happens. A new scoring system is put into place, the carpets are changing, giving the place a lighter look and the seating area and gaming area will be completely redone.
During the bowling event food and drinks are available at reasonable prices.

For further details and signup for either or both events, contact Chris Brokke at c.brokke@verizon.net, or contact Hidden Springs at hiddensprings@pobox.com or by phone 503-699-5442

——=_NextPart_000_0091_01C5BA4A.F732E060 Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; charset=3Dus-ascii"> <META content=3D"MSHTML 6.00.2900.2722" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE>@page Section1 {size: 8.5in 11.0in; margin: 1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25i= n; } P.MsoNormal { FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; FONT-FAMILY: "Times New Roman" } LI.MsoNormal { FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; FONT-FAMILY: "Times New Roman" } DIV.MsoNormal { FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; FONT-FAMILY: "Times New Roman" } A:link { COLOR: blue; TEXT-DECORATION: underline } SPAN.MsoHyperlink { COLOR: blue; TEXT-DECORATION: underline } A:visited { COLOR: purple; TEXT-DECORATION: underline } SPAN.MsoHyperlinkFollowed { COLOR: purple; TEXT-DECORATION: underline } SPAN.EmailStyle17 { COLOR: windowtext; FONT-FAMILY: Arial } DIV.Section1 { page: Section1 } </STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY lang=3DEN-US vLink=3Dpurple link=3Dblue> <DIV dir=3Dltr align=3Dleft>&nbsp;</DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV class=3DSection1> <P class=3DMsoNormal><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2><SPAN=20 style=3D"FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">Hidden Springs</SPAN></FONT><= FONT=20 face=3DArial size=3D2><SPAN style=3D"FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"> = nude swims=20 and bare bowling</SPAN></FONT></P> <P class=3DMsoNormal><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2><SPAN=20 style=3D"FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"></SPAN></FONT>&nbsp;</P> <P class=3DMsoNormal><FONT face=3D"Times New Roman" size=3D3><SPAN=20 style=3D"FONT-SIZE: 12pt">With summer nearing its end it is time to focus o= n fall=20 and </SPAN></FONT>Hidden Springs has several activities planned for this fa= ll=20 and winter.</P> <P class=3DMsoNormal><FONT face=3D"Times New Roman" size=3D3><SPAN=20 style=3D"FONT-SIZE: 12pt"></SPAN></FONT>&nbsp;</P> <P class=3DMsoNormal><FONT face=3D"Times New Roman" size=3D3><SPAN=20 style=3D"FONT-SIZE: 12pt">Nude swims are continuing during the fall and win= ter=20 season with the first event being held on Sunday October 23 from </SPAN></F= ONT>7=20 pm until 9 pm. AANR Weekly Report for Sept 9, 2005

By admin at 3:44 pm on September 9, 2005 | No comments
AANR Electronic Trustee Weekly Report
Sept 9, 2005
Join the crowd helping our fellow Americans
From the desk of Erich Schuttauf, Executive Director – Execdir@aanr.com
Hurricane Katrina
The AANR family deeply appreciates the concerns and offers of support that have been expressed by so many of our members and clubs for those impacted by Hurricane Katrina. This week we heard updates from a number of clubs in Katrina's path.
La Pines club in Lacombe Louisiana was devastated by the storm according to club owner Bill Schmidt who spoke with me yesterday. Mercifully, all members had evacuated prior to the storm and are believed to have come through without physical injury. Bill has made temporary arrangements to live outside Louisiana as have so many. However, he is in communication with people who will be able to report on the club's status as people are allowed back in and will provide us with information on what the club most needs as the process of restoring the club begins. For now, Bill says, the club is under several feet of water and downed trees are throughout the property.
Running Bare Bed and Breakfast in Long Beach, Mississippi has been a regular advertiser to the AANR Bulletin. Regrettably, we learned from its owners that the building "is no longer there."
Gymno Vita Park in Vandiver Alabama – was safe from Hurricane Katrina. They are offering help to their fellow nudists.
Sunburst Resort and Riviera clubs in Florida's panhandle were spared from most of the devastating effects of Katrina. We have learned that the clubs are housing some displaced nudists from areas impacted.
Your offers of help are greatly appreciated – these have ranged from offers of monetary assistance to housing fellow nudists who are without homes. In many cases it is too early to tell who needs what and to make contact with those in need. However, we have been compiling a list of these offers and will assist in matching them up with needs as we learn them. Please forward any information to Pat Plumstead who is tracking this list.
More Hurricane Planning – While we're on the subject of hurricanes, you 05 have heard recent reports about Hurricane Ophelia, currently churning in the waters off Florida's east coast. Because the storm could make a turn and head west towards us (various models have the storm taking various paths) we have initiated some routine procedures.
In the event that the storm should head our way over the weekend, and roads become impassible, the office will be closed until permission to use roads is granted and electrical power is restored. In the meantime, we will post updates to www.aanr.com <http://www.aanr.com/> if we are in disaster mode. In that mode, we will also use an alternate email address to collect emergency messages: urgentaanr@yahoo.com . Please Do Not use this email for routine correspondence, but only in emergencies and as directed on the site. We appreciate the continued opportunity to serve you.
Many Thanks on the thoughts and prayers that you extended to me and my family following my father's heart attack and unexpected need for emergency surgery last week. I flew home to be with him and other family last week and can report that he is doing much better as of today, though he is still in hospital.
AANR Makes a "3 Peat" performance of Getting favorable press for nude recreation in magazines for young women this summer! As many of you know, the June 2005 issue of Jane magazine—a publication targeting college age women—carried a "fashion story" set in Cypress Cove. Jane asked 5 young men and women who frequent the Cove about what styles are popular among people who wear nothing at all. AANR's Nanette Wickersham, Member and Club liaison was among those quoted.
One month later, Elle Girl, which targets the same market, presented a feature story on 18 year old nudist Jessica Harpin. The story included interviews with Jessica about growing up in a nudist environment and its positive effect on her self esteem. Carolyn Hawkins of our office also assisted with the interview providing statistics about the size of the association and the nude recreation industry.
Today we learned that the issue of the third young woman's magazine to address nude recreation this year is out: the October 2005 issue of Cosmo Girl. "I'm a Nudist" is prominently mentioned on the cover to announce a two page story featuring Kim Lowery of the AANR office and her personal story about growing up as a nudist in Tennessee and Florida. Like Jessica's story, Kim's describes a positive relationship with her nudist parents and relative ease with body acceptance and making the transition to adulthood made possible by nude recreation.
The opportunities presented by getting into there three prominent publications for young women are nothing short of incredible. The "tripling effect" caused by seeing a good nudist story in one of your favorite magazines, then another, and another within a three month period compounds the effectiveness of our message. The target audience fits very well with AANR and its Women In Nude Recreation (WINR) committee's goals of reaching that audience through ongoing media relations, producing materials like the "From a Women's Perspective," and attending trade shows oriented towards women.
Moreover, it's undisputed that these three publications are among the most widely read periodicals, commanding impressive business from advertisers. (Collectively readership is up and advertising revenues for these three totaled nearly $75 million in the first 8 months of 2005 according to Media Life, a source that tracks ad and subscription bases. See: http://www.medialifemagazine.com/News2005/aug05/aug8/3_wed/n ews1wednesday.html
This gives some idea of the value in getting two page placements in Cosmo Girl and Elle Girl, plus nearly one half page in Jane. And it gives our clubs some idea of the ways that AANR continues to establish itself as the credible voice of reason for nude recreation. I deeply appreciate the many volunteers who agreed to be interviewed, the assistance of Cypress Cove (where many interviews took place), your AANR PR Team, and the team at YPB&R for making this possible. Interestingly, each of these stories grew from an original inquiry about AANR's youth leadership camps. As that topic had already been well-covered, we convinced the editors of the respective publications to take a more personal approach to the life of a young person who happens to enjoy nudism.
From the desk of Pat Plumstead, Executive Assistant – Exoffice@aanr.com
Today was a special day in the AANR office. Carolyn Hawkins was presented with a plaque celebrating her 15 years with the AANR office. It was a complete surprise for Carolyn, who wanted to know why our lunch area was off limits. The look on her face when she saw the poster Linda Berry had made, and the plaque prepared for her, made us aware of how devoted Carolyn is to our organization. Carolyn is one of kind – and we're so happy we have her at AANR.
But we need your help: please share with us who in your club to contact for the following:
Public relations (name, email address, phone number) Newsletter editor (name, email address, phone number, and the newsletter's monthly deadline date) Current president (name, email address, phone number)
Please send the information to:
Pat Plumstead – Exoffice@aanr.com
Thank you from Susan Weaver, Sharon McLeod, Wayne Roberts and Shirley Heaton, -and stay tuned for exciting 75th anniversary news!
Plan now for the November Board Meeting at Cypress Cove. 11 17-19 with travel days of 11 16 & 20. Call 888-683-3120 to make your arrangements.
Ruling Documents: At the end of the General Assembly 2005 many of the changes from the General Assembly 2004 (and all of the changes from 2005) went into effect. The AANR Bylaws, Procedure Manual and Official Forms have been updated and are available for download from the website, or if you wish an electronic copy or a hard copy, contact Nanette Wickersham in the AANR Office.
One-Member, One-Vote: Remember that in 2006 our elections will be directly by the members. This process, however, begins right now with those who wish to consider office filling out a Nomination Form, getting the required endorsements, and sending it to the AANR Office. Nomination forms for Officer positions, for Club Trustee and for Member Trustee are available for download from the website, or if you wish an electronic copy or a hard copy, contact Nanette in the AANR Office. Or, if you have already downloaded the AANR Official Forms, they are contained in pages 10a through 16a of that document.
Enhance your website and become part of a new group dedicated to learning how to bring MORE business to your club or region. E-mail me your interest and a preliminary e-mail will be sent out.
Please make changes to reflect our email address at AANR that were illustrated in the June Bulletin as we are no longer using the earth link email addresses. Please make the changes in your email system so we 05 continue to communicate.
Check out the Cyber Bulletin for the latest on ILSLEY and his travels.
From the desk of Linda Berry, Director of Publications – Editor@aanr.com
The Bulletin
October will have a whopping 56 pages. It will be the biggest issue of the year.
We're starting to receive answers for the baby photo contest that appeared in the September issue. We'll match the babies and adults in the November issue and identify who they are. The winner of the contest will be announced also.
Miscellaneous
Business cards, the advertisement for Woodalls, and the advertisement for the Silver Spurs Rodeo program have been sent to the printer. We've started work on the 2006 budget.
From the desk of Carolyn Hawkins, Public Relations Coordinator – Pubaffairs@aanr.com
AANR IN PRINT
Watch for the October 2005 issue of Cosmo Girl. This article featured Kim Lowery from the AANR office. This issue goes on sale September 13, but we received an early copy. Excellent article!!!
I will be taking some vacation time in Maryland next week and will also be assisting with a beach cleanup at Assateague on Saturday September 17. We have over 30 members from the area who have volunteered to help.
From the desk of Patricia Orner, Government Affairs Coordinator – Government@aanr.com
Assateague Beach Cleanup – September 17, 2005
Today the count of volunteers is over 30.
Early registration has closed to help Carolyn Hawkins and Jim Corsentino on Saturday, September 17th show how much we nudists care about this wonderful beach area. We will have a few assorted sizes of bright yellow T-shirts at the on site registration..
I will be joining Carolyn on the clean up and look forward to meeting many of the team for the first time. I will leave here Friday 9-16 and return on Monday.
AANR will provide bottled water, juice and snacks as always and we will have really cool prizes in categories such as (1) youngest volunteer (2) oldest volunteer (3) largest family of volunteers (4) most miles traveled and a special trophy for the club that has the most volunteers.
On site registration will be 8:30-10:00 AM (EST). They want to be on the beach to start the cleanup by 10:00. There are 10 miles of beach to clean and the organizers will have 4-wheelers to take the volunteers where needed.
After the cleanup we will walk through the Maryland Coast Day Festival where over 4,000 visitors are expected at the state park grounds. Our peaceful parade of yellow billboards for nude recreation coming from the cleanup will be one more piece in the big picture when we take our next step towards a designated area.
CAT News
The testimony in this past Tuesday by one of our AANR members as Caroline County, MD attempts to pass their first legislation addressing adult-oriented businesses in their jurisdiction went very well. A change in the language has been submitted for their legal review and they are scheduled to vote on it next week. This is the way our team need to proceed through out the GAT structure. Win or lose on the bill – we will be on record and each win will be fuel for future fights.
This week we provided one package for possible legal aid assistance.
As our fellow members pick up the pieces of their shattered lives in the areas devastated by Katrina – there are many opportunities for CAT teams to help. I am sitting in under the AANR membership in the US Chamber of Commerce on two conference calls weekly so that as we know where help is available we will be prepared to help our members. Thanks to those who have already called the office to offer aid. Please let me know if your CAT team is involved in a project so that we can record all efforts and of course so that we 05 provide assistance where possible under the existing procedures manual.
As we begin our budget cycle I am evaluating four legislative data vendors with the goal of expanding our access and tracking to state regulations. Your Regional GAT Chairs are working on their plans and budget requests as well.
There are still 2 states in Regular Session. MA is in Informal Session. OH is in Skeleton Session. There is 1 state in Special Session.
I think a HERO is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.
Christopher Reeve
