AANR Convention Final Report by Mike Parker
Submitted here are a few follow-up reports from the final day of the convention – Friday 12 August 2005.
It was requested that the following not be reported during the regular transmissions from and by this scribe, so as to be a surprise:
AANR President Pat Brown is allowed to award one AANR Life Membership per year at the convention to a deserving individual. The life membership also includes membership for the spouse.
At the 2005 convention, she awarded that life membership to AANR-NW Government Affairs chair Shirley Gauthier and her husband Mark for the outstanding job Shirley has done in promoting AANR in the northwest. Pat read from numerous communications she had gotten praising Shirley in the past year. At The Willamettans general assembly meeting on Sunday, August 21, Pat Brown and Willamettans President John Kinman officially presented Shirley with her award, which she was kept in the dark about. Shirley was then given a standing ovation.
One other omission from the convention report was the presentation of the Jim Cossins award by President Brown to Chris Walters of Lake Como. This is an award that the AANR president is allowed to give, once each year, to a person who has shown, by their actions, their commitment to the nudist movement. Here are only some of the actions cited by President Brown: Chris has assisted on a voluntary basis in the AANR office on many occasions. He has donated funds to allow AANR to replace one of the display booths. He has spent his own money in order to allow some of the AANR staff to go on the nude cruises to represent AANR and much, much more over many years.
This should complete the convention reporting.
Mike Parker
