SECOND ANNUAL SAUVIE ISLAND NUDE BEACH CLEANUP 10:30 am SATURDAY, JUNE 25TH
On Saturday, June 25th, the second AANR-NW sponsored beach clean-up at the Sauvie Island nude beach will be coordinated by Hidden Springs non-landed nudist club.
Plans are to gather at a location on the beach between the first two posted entrances to the clothing-optional beach at 10:30 a.m. There should be a canopy, signs and banners. We will also have the AANR flag and pole.
The beach clean-up will begin at 11:00 a.m. and last about an hour. The area between the closed tree area and the river from one end of the nude beach to the other end will be cleaned of litter. A request was also made that the parking area from the gravel to the trees also be cleaned up (this is a clothed area). Those wishing to volunteer to clean just this area only need not go onto the nude beach.
This year, we are able to leave the bags by the trail heads and they will be picked up later. We will again provide chilled bottles of water to those helping as well as disposable gloves and the plastic SOLV clean-up bags. We will also have some SOLV heavier work gloves that can be used and returned and the plastic SOLV disposal bags. In addition, there will be first aid kits and a red plastic box for hazardous material.
If you have a FRS portable radio or two, please bring them. We will set a frequency at registration in order to better coordinate the clean-up.
Those participating will get raffle tickets for a 1:00 p.m. raffle for various prizes including passes to nudist resorts, t-shirts, water bottles and other prizes.
Those wishing to be in a group photo must also gather by 1:00 p.m by the registration area. Only those who sign a photo release for publication in local, regional and national nudist publications will be photographed.
Immediately following the beach cleanup, Hidden Springs will host a potluck open to all. We will provide the water, plates, napkins and utensils. Bring a food item to share and leave it at registration for the potluck.
A parking pass is required for parking in the wildlife preserve. Parking passes for the wildlife area where the nude beach is located are now $3.50 per day or $11.00 for the entire year. They 05 be picked up at the Cracker Barrel Store to the north of the Sauvie Island bridge on the island.
Editor's note:
Your destination is Collins Beach, an official clothing optional beach on Sauvie Island on the Columbia River just north of Portland.
The beach is easily accessible from the parking lot. There are several entrance trails to the beach from the parking area, marked #1 – 6. The parking lot reportedly has several portable toilets.
One source of further information is Cheef Dan's page at http://www.cheef.com/mooncrow/or-si001.htm
pt
