AANR ELECTRONIC CLUB WEEKLY REPORT FOR/05/27, 2005 edited by Paul Tuttle
WE HONOR OUR COUNTRYMEN & WOMEN WHO HAVE GIVEN THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE.
>From the desk of Erich Schuttauf, Executive Director: Execdir@aanr.com
Happy Memorial Day Weekend to You! This holiday marks the traditional beginning of summer vacation time and the opening of many AANR clubs across North America. We wish you the very best for a safe, sunny, and naked start this summer.
And while we are enjoying the holiday, let us not forget the sacrifices of the men and women of the armed services to whom we are so grateful for making freedom possible. For its part, per an AANR Board decision years ago, the association will automatically extend the membership / waive membership fees for all active duty personnel while they are serving in active duty overseas. We simply need a copy of the service person's orders to facilitate the extension.
They Got the Loan! You 05 recall that in a previous edition of this report we explained how AANR was working with a member couple's mortgage company and appraiser to secure financing on a home adjacent to an AANR club. This week we're delighted to report that the lender approved their loan…and offered to waive some origination fees as a gesture of appreciation for the time the couple had been kept waiting on the appraisal-for-a-near-nudist-property to come in. They wrote us a nice thank you letter noting that AANR "got the ball rolling" on their behalf after months of delay.
Credential Forms are on the Way AANR Delegate Credential forms for voting in the upcoming General Assembly at the AANR convention at Caliente club are on their way out to you!
You can always download additional credential forms by going to the club services area on the aanr.com website. Simply visit http://www.aanr.com/club_services.html . To get a copy of the username and password, just e-mail executive assistant Pat Plumstead at Exoffice@aanr.com .
Calling all Regions! Donate an item for our gift package for the American Recreation Coalition's Silent Auction
Next month AANR will again participate in the American Recreation Coalition (ARC)'s Celebration of Great Outdoors month in Washington, D.C. AANR is proud to have belonged to ARC—which brings leaders from the public and private sector together to enhance recreation opportunities— for many years. Once again this year, we will be supporting ARC's silent auction with an assortment of travel gear that's perfect when you're planning a nude beach or resort getaway. The presence of AANR's contribution on the silent auction table is a great way to promote the association and our regions as part of the mainstream recreation market. We're inviting regions that have nice items such as towels, gear containers, etc… with their logo to add to our material. Please send them along to Government Affairs Coordinator Pat Orner c/o the AANR office to be received by next Friday, June 3, 2005.
New Content on AANR.com This week there's an all-new edition of the cyber bulletin online. Read all about the recent USA Today and Frommer's Travel articles about nudism and more.
In the Members' Only Message Board area we've added a forum where folks can post their AANR Convention Plans. From exciting activities, to where to book the best air-fares, members are free to share ideas about the biggest event this summer. (There are lots of people signed up on AANR's message board service. By the time you receive this e-mail, we'll likely have passed the 1,500 registrations mark!
Finally, for the younger set, we've posted this month's puzzlers and jokes to the Just for Fun Kidz Zone of the members' area. Come visit Nudels the pooch and download some fun.
>From the desk of Pat Plumstead, Executive Assistant: Exoffice@aanr.com
SHOW ME THE WAY TO CALIENTE – 74TH AANR Convention -August 7-14, 2005
Just three months away, this convention will be an exciting event. Well, please don't get used to that because there was a mistake at the printer. They used 45# paper instead of 35# which is more expensive to print and to ship. When we get the postal reports back, we'll figure the difference and the printer will compensate us with a credit on our printing bill. Although it looks great, it's too costly for our budget.
We're getting great response to our request for stories about how nudism has affected people's lives. Have you submitted yours yet?
Miscellaneous You can read about the nudist beer of choice on the latest edition of The Cyber-Bulletin. Several club letterheads are in the works and billing is in progress for the June issue. The new U.S. version of the 75th anniversary postage stamp is being designed because the one with the AANR logo was rejected. Logos are no longer allowed. The Canadians were more gracious and accepted our logo without any problem. Those stamps have been received.
Order Your North American Guide Most of our clubs should be open for the season, so now is the time to stock up on the North American Guides. Remember that it also comes with a free, color CD-ROM that is compatible with all computers, including a Macintosh. The package is nicely shrink-wrapped for easy handling, and there are quantity discounts available. Quantity orders also receive a free stand-up display to help sell the book (while supplies last!) What more could you ask for?
>From the desk of Carolyn Hawkins, Public Relations Coordinator: Clubinfo@aanr.com
AANR IN PRINT
I had an interview with the Jay Thomas Talk Show regarding nude recreation and NRW which was stemmed from the USA Today article. Rooster Rock Clean-up Day of Event

By admin at 7:28 am on May 22, 2005 | No comments

The American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) official adoption signs at Rooster Rock and Oregon state park were installed/05/21, 2005. The main entrance to the park now informs visitors that AANR has a working relationship with the State of Oregon.
Learn more about the Oregon State adopt-a-park program by visiting http://egov.oregon.gov/OPRD/VOL/volunteer-adoptdesc.shtml.

The signs were installed at the 10th annual Down by the Riverside cleanup a statewide event hosted by SOLV. Rooster Rock was one of 560 sites located in Oregon that participated in this yearly event. SOLV is a non-profit group that promotes volunteerism and environmental stewardship. As reported in the Oregonian newspaper, SOLV project coordinator Erin Peters said, They're fabulous and they're just the nicest group. Visit SOLV by going to http://www.SOLV.org. SOLV donated the trash bags, first aid kits, nice re-usable gloves, day of event posters and safety vests.

AANR has also donated an artisic bench that will welcome nudists and Rooster Rock visitors to the clothing optional area of the park. The bench a labor of love was built by Craig George. There is no way to describe this beautiful piece of art and we express much gratitude and appreciation to Craig. Craig is project coordinator for the Volunteers of the Gorge. http://www.volunteersinthegorge.org . Volunteers of the Gorge have joined us in beach clean ups for the past three years and we value our relationship with them. Unfortunately, because of recent heavy rains the river was to high and we were unable to install the bench at this time. A future date will be set to install this artistic bench and complete other work projects.

An anonymous AANR-NW member donated a $100 check to defray costs of the bench. If you would like to contribute financially to the Rooster Rock project please send your checks made out to AANR-NW GAT to
AANR-NW GAT Chair Shirley Gauthier PO Box 969 Marcola Oregon 97454-0969.
Please put AANR-bench in the subject line.

The predicted nice weather did not happen but the wearing of clothing did not dampen our enthusiasm. In addition to the sign installation Oregon State Park employee Glenn Littrell directed over 46 registered volunteers who cleared trails, picked up litter, transplanted trees and cooked hot dogs. Every year Glenn goes beyond our expectations in making the day productive and fun. The Willamettans Family Nudist Resort located in Marcola, Oregon donated bottles of water, condiments and cookies. Restful Haven Health Club, Fraternity Snoqualmie, Sun Meadow, The Willamettans, Bare Backers, Lake Bronson and Volunteers in the Gorge donated raffle prizes. Participating volunteers received an AANR collector button that read AANR adopts Rooster Rock at SOLV Down by the Riverside.

If you missed out on this beach clean up join us August 6 for the Rooster Rock Beach Party which in reality is a work party. If you live in region and want to support this adoption you can do so by donating raffle prizes (t-shirts, hats or other club merchandise greatly appreciated) or making financial contributions to the cost of the hotdogs and bottles of water. Simply contact AANR-NW GAT Chair-Shirley Gauthier at sherbog@msn.com on how you to can contribute to the AANR adoption at Rooster Rock clothing optional beach.

Photo Release – Rooster Rock/05/21

By admin at 9:17 am on May 16, 2005 | No comments

Rooster Rock Down by the Riverside registration Submitted by: Shirley Gauthier

There is plenty of time to make that decision to participate in SOLV sponsored Down by the Riverside work party at Rooster Rock clothing optional beach/05/21. We are meeting at the east end parking area at 8:30. Hot dog roast following the work party. The Willamettans Family nudist Resort will supply the hot dogs. We have the pavilion reserved (in the clothing area) for the hot dog roast should the weather make it to challenging to cook in the rain.

The American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) now requires a photo release be signed by anyone in a photo submitted for publication by AANR. Mark Buchweitz and Shirley Gauthier will be the only AANR official photographers. Mark and Shirley will be introduced at registration. You will be able to identify them by the AANR Press sticker on their body (if it is warm enough) or the AANR Press sticker on their sleeve if the weather demands clothing.

The registration table will have photo release forms available for those choosing to be included in any photos taken at this event. Upon signing a photo release you will be given a red wrist- band that must be worn during the event. A photo release must be signed if you choose to work clothed or nude. The group photo has been an event highlight for the past two years so be sure to register, sign your photo release and get your wrist band. It is our intent to provide photos to AANR, AANR-NW and local media. It is our intent to respect the privacy of everyone at the event.

Those registering for the event will receive a Rooster Rock collector button. You do not have to sign a photo release to receive the button.
See you all Saturday.

AANR Electronic Club Weekly Report for 05 13, 2005

By admin at 7:37 pm on May 13, 2005 | No comments

An excerpt of the AANR ELECTRONIC CLUB WEEKLY REPORT FOR 05 13, 2005 edited by Paul Tuttle
I "whittled" it down taking out the repeat items with the idea that news should be "new." Some of the items not pertaining to our region were deleted to shorten the report in an attempt to keep it "lively".Clubs/members wishing the full unedited report each week 05 be able to subscribe directly…
>From the desk of Erich Schuttauf, Executive Director: Execdir@aanr.com
AANR, Clubs Touted In USA TODAY!!!! I am very pleased to share some incredible news with you: This morning a very positive article appeared in USA TODAY. The article appears on the cover of the LIFE section's Travel / Destinations & Diversions pages. It's titled, "Nudist tourism puts on a layer of opulence."
The article was a collaborative effort of many and includes statistics from AANR (courtesy of Carolyn Hawkins and the public relations team at YPB&R) and information about a number of clubs from coast to coast. You'll find information and / or quotes from Nancy Tiemann of Bare Necessities, Stephen Payne at Desert Shadows, Carrie Schultz of Caliente, and Joe Lettellier of Paradise Lakes and Paradise Valley.
It's hard to quantify just how valuable this piece is. USA TODAY has a readership in the millions. By appearing on Friday, this paper will continue to be sold throughout the weekend…further increasing readership! Think about what it means to have all those readers learning about the strong dollar value of the nude recreation industry and the upscale amenities offered at many resorts and cruises. This is definitely a sign that the industry "has arrived" and goes a long way to establishing us as a credible voice in the travel community.
To see the article copy & paste this url: http://www.usatoday.com/travel/destinations/2005-05-12-nudist-tourism_x.htm
Better yet, why not buy a few copies at your local newsstand?
New Content Uploaded this Week to AANR.com There's an all-new edition of The Cyber Bulletin at http://www.aanr.com/cyber_bulletin.html. Click and see how officials at Apollo Beach on the Canaveral National Seashore have assisted our members by moving nude bathing signs to parking lot 4 while the traditional nude beach at lot 5 undergoes repairs. Also learn about AANR's latest ad in National Geographic Traveler, nude photography, and how the European Union endorses nudity in its official state sauna.
We've added a new cartoon to our Just for Fun area in advance of this summer's Nude Recreation Week celebration: http://www.aanr.com/members_just_for_fun.html .
On a more serious note, you'll find an article about what to do if your family encounters the rare legal difficulty from practicing nudism in our Members' Law Library at http://www.aanr.com/members_law_library.html .
