AANR Weekly Report for/01/28, 2005
Edited by Mel Kanner AANR Trustee ———————————————————— ———————————————— AANR Electronic Trustee Weekly Report for/01/28, 2005
From the desk of Erich Schuttauf, Executive Director: Execdir@aanr.com
Today is a GOOD NEWS day – For more reasons than one! I encourage you to read this edition of the Weekly Report from top to bottom because many entries represent extremely good things for AANR and our clubs. They also epitomize a continuing fulfillment of AANR's mission to Promote, Enhance, and Protect nude recreation. Read on:
First Step to Victory in Virginia (Protection at its finest) – Many of you have been following with great interest the recent developments surrounding House Bill 2806 by Delegate Carrico. As you 05 know, the bill would ban youth under the age of 18 from attending nudist parks in the state. AANR and AANR East had secured the services of a top-notch lobbyist to help defeat the bill.
Yesterday a major step was taken towards stopping HB 2806 during a subcommittee hearing where the bill was considered. After taking only brief testimony, the subcommittee UNANIMOUSLY voted to recommend tabling the measure. (The bill will go to full committee for consideration next week where it is expected to accept the recommendation and table 2806.)
According to White Tail Park owner Bob Roche who attended yesterday's proceedings—it was a relatively quiet affair and we hope to keep things that way to avoid undue attention to the bill which would make lawmakers' actions more public—your lobbyist deserves incredible praise for what happened.
HOW YOU CAN HELP – PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT LAWMAKERS, PRESS, ETC about this bill at this time. Keeping this measure quiet and out of the limelight is crucial to obtaining final success. We will apprise you immediately if there is a change in strategy that requires member assistance.
In the meantime, please accept our thanks for your support of the Association and your region. It is only through this support that the high quality of representation that we have secured is possible.
ALL NEW AANR.com website goes live! (Enhancement and Promotion right here!) On Wednesday evening our all-new version of the www.aanr.com <http://www.aanr.com/> website went live. We are very pleased to report that this launch coincides with a cover story about the new site that appears in the February issue of The Bulletin. That issue will begin hitting members' mailboxes as early as today.
On the all-new site there are a number of helpful features and services, including an online press room to serve journalists, a member services area with bulletin boards, downloadable excerpts from AANR's North American Guide to Nude Recreation, a "law library" and much more. Members can register by simply using their last name and "P Number" as shown on your membership card.
Club Services also have their own area on the new website. To access this area, simply enter the username aanrclubs and the password azwz6 . Within club services, you'll find clip art, access to our ruling documents, plus AANR's PowerPoint presentation on Taking Control of Video Voyeurism. We plan to bring you even more club services in the future.
Members are already logging on and signing up for services. We have had several membership renewals and product orders from our revised online store. We're also encouraging members to update their records with us, and to provide e-mail, phone, and other contact information that makes them easier to reach. In return, for a limited time we'll be giving away free "screen squeegees" and other goodies to those who respond.
AANR and AANR West at work in Quartzite Arizona. (Promotion, Promotion) Each year thousands of RVers head south to spend at least part of their winter "wilderness camping" on Bureau of Land Management space near Quarzite, Arizona. A huge trade show / fest / flea market has built up around this annual migration — and AANR / AANR West are part of it all!
According to Helen Landman of DeAnza springs who helped organize our presence there (including about a dozen volunteers including AANR President Pat Brown and her husband Darrel, plus John and BJ Kinman, President and First Lady of AANR West), their booth has given away over 5,000 emery boards bearing contact information, and thousands of visitors have collected literature about us. This includes our list of AANR clubs.
Because Quartzite draws travelers from all over the country and Canada, when those travelers return to where they live most of the year, a number will undoubtedly consider visiting an AANR park closer to home. So we all extend a great big THANK YOU to these volunteers for helping to promote nude recreation in this way
———————————————————— ————————————————
From the desk of Pat Plumstead, Executive Assistant: ExOffice@aanr.com <mailto:ExOffice@aanr.com:>
MEMDACS – "Membership Data Access System" – Mel Kanner has been updating the look and feel of this program. The beta testing is being done by a group of dedicated individuals. We are addressing the issues this group has brought to our attention! So get your mouse ready .it's coming soon.
Paradise Lakes Resort, in sunny, warm, tropical Florida is ready to welcome the attendees of the 2005 Winter Board Meeting to be held 02 17, 18 & 19.
Calling All Committee Chairs – Please send your reports to the AANR office in preparation for the February meeting. Your thoughts and ideas are very important and we are here to help with any procedures or research. We will assist you with the preparation of your action plan, to include for example, your primary objectives, actions taken, successes and pending issues. The deadline for the reports is February 7th If you have any questions, please contact me.
Has your club hosted a Chamber of Commerce or civic group function? We're considering an article about the value of such outreach efforts. Please let us know about your experience with an email to me at Exoffice@aanr.com. Thanks to the many clubs who have already e-mailed information about their experience with a Chamber of Commerce.
———————————————————— ————————————————
From the desk of Linda Berry, Director of Publications: Editor@aanr.com
The Bulletin The March issue is in production.
North American Guide The book has been printed, and the CD-Rom color version of the Guide has been completed by Angie, our graphic artist. The hyperlinks have been checked, rechecked, and checked again on all types of computers. The final check will be done this weekend and on Monday. We expect the master CD-Rom to be sent to Disk Makers on Tuesday of next week. The finished product should be in our hands by end of February/first of March.
Miscellaneous The four-color youth brochure shell has been approved and will go to the printer today. Next week we will have the insert panel that will have the locations, dates, and prices.
Vista Grande, Pine Tree, and The Naturals Club brochures have been sent to the printer. It is not uncommon for a story to run on such a website and then have journalists from other media outlets expand or follow up on the idea in their columns or broadcasts. These websites can spawn additional publicity that might not have originally taken place."
Just an early reminder that Nude Recreation Week will be celebrated July 4 – 10, 2005. As always I will be looking for any activities you plan during that time. We will be sending a press release to local media in your area so the earlier you plan your activities, the better it will be.
The Bare Necessities All Saints Tour nude cruise on board Carnival's Legend is set to sail. AANR will be on board the Legend to promote your club with your brochure at our booth. Many thanks to the many clubs who have already sent brochures for the cruise. Thanks also to those who have said they would bring the brochures and the offer to help.
There will be 2,150 nudists on the ship when it leaves Ft Lauderdale on February 7th for St Thomas, St Martin and St Lucia. This is the largest ship Bare Necessities has ever offered. Many of the passengers will be first-time nudists and when they return home on 02 15 they will be looking for a club or resort near their home to continue their enjoyment of the freedom and relaxing experience they enjoyed.
We wish also to thank Bare Necessities who has donated cabins which has raised thousands of dollars for the government affairs program.
Check this shortcut to the Forbes site for the article as Forbes.com plugs AANR and growth of Nude Recreation.
http://www.forbes.com/travel/2005/01/13/cx_cv_0113feat.html
———————————————————— ————————————————
From the desk of Patricia Orner, Government Affairs Assistant: Govtaffairs@aanr.com
Registration will close soon for the GAT Training/02/20-21 at Paradise Lakes as seating is getting close to full.
