Edited by Mel Kanner AANR Trustee ———————————————————— ————————————-
AANR Weekly Report for/01/21, 2005

From the desk of Erich Schuttauf, Executive Director: Execdir@aanr.com
VIRGINIA YOUTH BILL
On Wednesday, we wrote to you and our clubs about a new bill pending in the Virginia legislature that could ban the presence of juveniles at any nudist park or camp. The following confidential report was prepared with substantial assistance from Bob Roche, AANR East President, and includes information about the lobbyist who has been retained to work on AANR and AANR East's behalf.
A message with more generic information will be distributed to our clubs and on the AANR Government Affairs Yahoo newsgroup
UPDATE HB 2806
PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT DELEGATES AT THIS TIME
We have contracted with Alexander Macaulay of Macaulay & Burtch, PC to lobby at the state capitol in Richmond against HB 2806. Information about Mr. Macaulay and his firm can be found on the Internet at: http://www.macbur.com <http://www.macbur.com/> <http://www.macbur.com/ <http://www.macbur.com/> >
HB 2806 seriously impacts on your rights to engage in nude recreation in Virginia. The bill prohibits the licensing of hotels, campgrounds and summer camps attended by "openly nude juveniles" regardless if the child's parents are present or not.
Mr. Macaulay is now investigating HB 2806 and discussing the bill with members of the House Committee on General Laws.
While Mr. Macaulay is engaged in this initial process, he's requested that you not contact Virginia lawmakers or the media. Publicity generated by such contacts could hinder efforts to "kill" the bill without it ever going to vote.
In the early stages of fighting adverse legislation, massive letter writing campaigns, packing hearing rooms, and extensive media coverage can cause more harm than good, making success much less likely.
AANR and AANR-East are providing the funding for this fight against HB 2806. If not already a member, we strongly encourage you to join AANR. AANR and AANR-East are strong proponents and defenders of your and your family's right to participate in social nude recreation. These efforts do require major expenditures of funds, the primary source of these monies being member dues.
We will continue to keep you updated on HB 2806 and alert you when action is needed on your part. We appreciate and thank you for your continued support of nude recreation and our efforts to defeat this harmful bill.

Bob Roche
President, AANR-East
Erich Schuttauf
Executive Director, AANR
———————————————————— ————————————-
From the desk of Pat Plumstead, Executive Assistant: ExOffice@aanr.com <mailto:ExOffice@aanr.com: <mailto:ExOffice@aanr.com:> >
EMT – Electronic Membership Transmittal has officially become MEMDACS – "Membership Data Access System" and as indicated in last week's report has taken some giant steps due to the work of Mel Kanner.
