AANR Weekly Report Sept. 10, 2004
AANR Electronic Club Weekly Report for September 10, 2004 Ivan – Go Away!
>From the desk of Erich Schuttauf, Executive Director: Try-nude@aanr.com <mailto:Try-Nude@aanr.com:>
A THIRD HURRICANE???
It's hard to believe, but, yes there is a third major hurricane headed towards the Florida / Gulf region! This one, Hurricane Ivan, is due to make landfall somewhere on, or near, the state by early Monday morning. Ivan is in the category 4 – 5 range.
Per our storm procedures, we have once again begun securing all property in the office, taping windows, encasing computers in plastic, and making backups of all membership and financial data, in preparation.
We have—tentatively—arranged to close the office on Monday as that is when the storm is due to have "bands" that impact us. If Ivan should happen to bypass our state, we will be open for business as usual.
Please consult our webpage at www.aanr.com <http://www.aanr.com/> for the latest status on this storm. Should we be closed, we will once again use the urgentaanr@yahoo.com for communications. Be sure to mention "AANR" in your subject line for prompt service.
Meanwhile, we have included an update on the damage that our previous two hurricanes – Charley and Frances — have done to area clubs on the main website. Please keep these clubs in your thoughts and prayers. We appreciate serving you.
Historical note: Major hurricanes are not uncommon this time of year and they're not uncommon to Florida. However, it is very rare that we experience storms over a category I in central Florida. Until this year, the last time any such storm hit was 1960… And now, three in just a matter of weeks.
>From the desk of Pat Plumstead, Executive Assistant: ExOffice@aanr.com <mailto:ExOffice@aanr.com:>
* Last call for any changes to the Directory. Please e-mail me any changes for your region. Thank you to the folks who sent in their updates. Our goal is to have the most up to date information as possible.
* Award winner's names have been given to the engraver. Your plaque or engraving will be prepared this week and please allow time for shipment back to your attention.
HELP US OUT – At the request of our webmaster, I am requesting all clubs and businesses that are listed on the www.aanr.com site, that a link back to us be included in their site. Ultimately what we all are looking for is Page Popularity for specific key phrases. The relationship between high page rank and page popularity is uncertain, what is certain is that anchor text of the sites linking to you is what gives your key phases higher "page popularity". By having targeted links from 100 to 200 sites for the key phrases, (nude, nudist, nudist club, clothing optional, etc.) is important to the successful ranking of the site.
>From the desk of Linda Berry, Director of Publications:Editor@aanr.com The Bulletin Although the September issue printed on time, we've had several calls from people who still haven't received that issue. We're asking them to give a few more days because the mail 05 have been delayed due to the hurricanes.
The October issue is traditionally our biggest issue of the year. The original print date was set for September 14, but after Frances came through we delayed it until September 20. (That was the best we could do with the printer because they've had numerous customers changing schedules.) If Ivan pays us a visit we will have to delay it even further. "Late" is such an ugly word, but in this case it just can't be helped.
>From the desk of Carolyn Hawkins, Public Relations Coordinator:Clubinfo@aanr.com
Steve Vickers and I had an interview with a local Bright House Channel in Orlando Florida. They are very favorable to nude recreation and interested in broadcasting live from Cypress Cove prior to Nude Recreation Week.
If your club is having a 5K run this year, or any other large activity, we would love to hear from you. Give us the dates of the event and what you will be doing. This will be part of a pitch story.
Thanks to all of our members who continue to faithfully watch for newspaper and magazine articles. I really appreciate your attention in getting these to the AANR office.
Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. Helen Keller
-pt
