[AANRGovernmentAffairs] Digest Number 73

By admin at 8:17 am on September 22, 2004 | No comments
Date:22/09/2004 06:23:18 From: "Alonzo Stevens" <alonzo_stevens@mindspring.com> Subject: Manteca Anti Nudity Ordinance Approved
THE FACTS: Monday, September 20, 2004 several AANR members attended the Manteca City Council meeting in hope of modifying a proposed "Nudity on Public Lands" ordinance. Manteca has experienced a recent problem with public nudity; in one case a woman was sunbathing nude in plain view of the Boys and Girls Club across the street. AANR and its regions advocate social nudity only in appropriate settings when it will not infringe on the rights of others. AANR was seeking a modification to Ordinance 1274 to exempt any place set apart for social nude recreation.
In attendance to speak to the proposal were AANR Government Affairs (GA) Chair Alonzo Stevens and AANR Northern California GA Chair Debra Sue Stevens, accompanied by three AANR members from Manteca (who did not choose to speak), three International Naturists Association members who opposed the ordinance and two Manteca residents who supported the ordinance as written.
THE HISTORY: On Friday, September 10, 2004 Laguna del Sol Community Awareness Team (LdS CAT) President Tom Lesch visited with the Manteca Mayor, Chief of Police and Deputy City Clerk. All were receptive to modifying the ordinance per our request. On Monday, September 13, 2004 Tom returned to deliver well-prepared information packets from AANR and the reception was quite different. Emails and letters from outside the city of Manteca had flooded the City Council over the weekend and it was apparent that the goodwill built the previous week had crumbled.
LESSONS LEARNED: Additional Manteca AANR members willing to speak in favor of the proposed amendments would have been helpful. AANR does not condone nudity in inappropriate places and wanted to see exclusion to the ordinance for any place set apart for social nude recreation. The weekend emails and some in attendance opposed the ordinance completely, stating that there were already laws on the books to address the situations Manteca police are facing. The Manteca City Council did not differentiate between the two distinct messages, but grouped us all together in their conclusion. The email/letter campaign hurt the chances for approval of a modification to this ordinance that would have provided the opportunity to promote and protect nude recreation in Manteca.
Respectfully Submitted by: Alonzo Stevens AANR Government Affairs Chair

Hidden springs bowling

By admin at 8:46 pm on September 21, 2004 | No comments
Nude Bowling
Hidden Springs will be hosting several nude bowling events this fall. Dates are currently set for Sunday October 10 and Sunday November 14. Both events run from 8 pm until 10 pm and the cost is still only $10, – for two hours unlimited bowling including shoe rental.
These events have grown in popularity over the last winter season. Let's see if we can out do ourselves this year and get larger groups to bowl. If you have participated in the nude bowling events you know how much fun they are. Tell your friends how much you enjoy them and invite them for these events.
The bowling alley sets the complete facility apart for us as a private party and helps us with keeping this party private by screening people when they want to enter the bowling alley. Hidden Springs provides the bowling alley with a list of participants to help the bowling alley to keep this party private. Please help us by signing up for one or both of these events at hiddensprings@pobox.com, or at c.brokke@verizon.net. OR Parks Conf. Features Our Cleanups

By admin at 4:17 am on September 17, 2004 | No comments

=20 The Oregon Parks and Recreation (ORPA) 2004 Conference will be held at Kah-Nee-Ta High Desert Resort in Warm Springs, Oregon. Volunteers Nancy and Paul Kuntzmann will represent AANR and AANR-NW. The 4-day conference runs September 19-22. In fifty years ORPA has grown to over 600 members. =20 This years conference brochure includes a =BD page article captioned "Fans of Nude Recreation Hit the Beach for Cleanups" and the ever popular SOLV "nude but not nude" photo taken at the SOLV sponsored "Down by the Riverside" event at Rooster Rock beach clean up. Thanks to Paul Kuntzmann and Sharon McLeod who prepared the article. While we hoped it would be included in the brochure it was great to see the photo. The same photo will be used at the informational booth. The photo shows a partnership not only with the State Parks Dept. but SOLV since the garbage bags are what provide the cover making it a "nude but not nude photo."
AANR-NW informational booth will join over 40 venders in the exhibit hall to educate and raise awareness about nude recreation. It was at this venue in 2002 that a Rooster Rock State Park employee suggested we would be a great partner to works towards preserving and protecting Rooster Rock State Park nude beach approached AANR-NW.

AANR Electronic Club Weekly Report for September 10, 2004 Ivan – Go Away!
>From the desk of Erich Schuttauf, Executive Director: Try-nude@aanr.com <mailto:Try-Nude@aanr.com:>
A THIRD HURRICANE???
It's hard to believe, but, yes there is a third major hurricane headed towards the Florida / Gulf region! This one, Hurricane Ivan, is due to make landfall somewhere on, or near, the state by early Monday morning. Ivan is in the category 4 – 5 range.
Per our storm procedures, we have once again begun securing all property in the office, taping windows, encasing computers in plastic, and making backups of all membership and financial data, in preparation.
We have—tentatively—arranged to close the office on Monday as that is when the storm is due to have "bands" that impact us. If Ivan should happen to bypass our state, we will be open for business as usual.
Please consult our webpage at www.aanr.com <http://www.aanr.com/> for the latest status on this storm. Should we be closed, we will once again use the urgentaanr@yahoo.com for communications. Be sure to mention "AANR" in your subject line for prompt service.
Meanwhile, we have included an update on the damage that our previous two hurricanes – Charley and Frances — have done to area clubs on the main website. Please keep these clubs in your thoughts and prayers. We appreciate serving you.
Historical note: Major hurricanes are not uncommon this time of year and they're not uncommon to Florida. However, it is very rare that we experience storms over a category I in central Florida. Until this year, the last time any such storm hit was 1960… And now, three in just a matter of weeks.
>From the desk of Pat Plumstead, Executive Assistant: ExOffice@aanr.com <mailto:ExOffice@aanr.com:>
* Last call for any changes to the Directory. Please e-mail me any changes for your region. Thank you to the folks who sent in their updates. Our goal is to have the most up to date information as possible.
* Award winner's names have been given to the engraver. Your plaque or engraving will be prepared this week and please allow time for shipment back to your attention.
HELP US OUT – At the request of our webmaster, I am requesting all clubs and businesses that are listed on the www.aanr.com site, that a link back to us be included in their site. Ultimately what we all are looking for is Page Popularity for specific key phrases. The relationship between high page rank and page popularity is uncertain, what is certain is that anchor text of the sites linking to you is what gives your key phases higher "page popularity". By having targeted links from 100 to 200 sites for the key phrases, (nude, nudist, nudist club, clothing optional, etc.) is important to the successful ranking of the site.
>From the desk of Linda Berry, Director of Publications:Editor@aanr.com The Bulletin Although the September issue printed on time, we've had several calls from people who still haven't received that issue. We're asking them to give a few more days because the mail 05 have been delayed due to the hurricanes.
The October issue is traditionally our biggest issue of the year. The original print date was set for September 14, but after Frances came through we delayed it until September 20. (That was the best we could do with the printer because they've had numerous customers changing schedules.) If Ivan pays us a visit we will have to delay it even further. "Late" is such an ugly word, but in this case it just can't be helped.
>From the desk of Carolyn Hawkins, Public Relations Coordinator:Clubinfo@aanr.com
Steve Vickers and I had an interview with a local Bright House Channel in Orlando Florida.
They are very favorable to nude recreation and interested in broadcasting live from Cypress Cove prior to Nude Recreation Week.
If your club is having a 5K run this year, or any other large activity, we would love to hear from you. Give us the dates of the event and what you will be doing. This will be part of a pitch story.
Thanks to all of our members who continue to faithfully watch for newspaper and magazine articles. I really appreciate your attention in getting these to the AANR office.
Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. Helen Keller
-pt

We are in the home stretch toward our goal of 20,000 signatures. If everyone sends the online petition link to a minimum of five others, it will help tremendously. It would also help me in my stats analysis if you would include your city of origin. The more international signatures we get, the better! We are an international beach before we are a local one because over 300,000 visitors a year add to tourist-generated revenues. Thank you so much for signing and for passing this along to others to sign. Let's get the online signatures up by thousands and we can do it. Let's see what we can do by the end of this coming weekend. If you can get me your signatures by the end of the day on the 13th, that would help tremendously for my calculations. Thank you for the love of a very precious beach! You can either have people go directly to the link or they can go to our website and click on the online petition.
Here are the two links:
(1) <http://www.petitiononline.com/wreckbch/petition.html> http://www.PetitionOnline.com/wreckbch/petition.html
(2) http:// <outbind://29/www.wreckbeach.org> www.wreckbeach.org (Go to main page and click on the Online Petition and you will go directly there

——=_NextPart_000_0000_01C49720.4DCC2A70 Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; charset=3Dus-ascii"> <META content=3D"MSHTML 6.00.2800.1400" name=3DGENERATOR></HEAD> <BODY> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial> <P class=3DMsoNormal style=3D"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><SPAN=20 style=3D"FONT-FAMILY: Arial"><A=20 href=3D"mailto:Judy@wreckbeach.org">Judyw@wreckbeach.org</A>&nbsp;has writt= en=20 asking for our help:</SPAN></P> <P class=3DMsoNormal style=3D"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">&nbsp;</P> <P class=3DMsoNormal style=3D"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT=20 face=3D"Times New Roman">Please help us in this rainy stretch to get more f= olks to=20 sign the&nbsp;online&nbsp;petition to stop or at least to mitigate the impa= cts=20 of the proposed&nbsp;UBC&nbsp;towers on the fragile cliff face and breathta= king=20 panoramic vista from&nbsp;the&nbsp;tidal flats of <?xml:namespace prefix = =3D st1=20 ns =3D "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place=20 w:st=3D"on"><st1:PlaceName w:st=3D"on">Wreck</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType= =20 w:st=3D"on">Beach</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>.
