FRPA

On Monday, August 30, AANR / FANR will be attending the Florida Recreation and Park Assoc trade show, FRPA. Of special interest, we will be conducting a tour of several Pasco County area nudist resorts. Each passenger will receive a goodie bag with AANR and Club brochures highlighting what we offer in Florida. Trustee Bob Erlenmeyer and Steve Vickers of the AANR office will be joining me as we host the trip.

AANR Influencing ASIA

You may recall that some months ago, AANR was mentioned in an online version of Time Magazine in Asia. The story covered the growing popularity of clothing-optional recreation, with some hints that China should consider getting in on the act. More recently, on August 20, 2004, AANR was again recognized as the authority on nude recreation in a piece published by www.chinadaily.com .

In the China Daily article, a Singapore businessman referenced our statistics (and news about our 73rd convention at Glen Eden) in support of his argument that more venues should be made clothing optional. At one point, he went so far as to write that having a nudist destination in Singapore might “position Singapore as the truly Asian holiday destination coming into its own…It might even be enough to entice the AANR to hold its 74th international convention in Singapore!”

We’ll try to think of a way to break the news to the writer about our upcoming convention at Caliente. In the meantime, why not check out the article?

From the desk of Pat Plumstead, Executive Assistant: ExOffice@aanr.com

Thank you Glen Eden for making this year’s convention a success! 1258 people registered for this awesome event. The teamwork and spirit at the club made a difference. Chairs Jeannette, Cook and Cheryl made our trip cruising down Route 66 a memorable convention.

Back on the home front, the Kissimmee area continues to make its way back from a devastating hurricane. We wish to thank Cherie Alexander for helping us alert the nudist community.

Kudos to Bev Price for completing the Bylaws and Procedure manual changes well in advance of our deadline.

Thank you to the regions who responded to the request for officer/trustee/committee information to be included in the Sept update of the Directory. Please forward any changes to my attention.

I will be in North Carolina from 8/29-9/4. Trying to stay away from Hurricane Frances!

From the desk of Linda Berry, Director of Publications:Editor@aanr.com

The Bulletin Work was back to normal this week (thank goodness!) We appreciate everyone’s concern. The cleanup will go on for some time to come because of all the trees that have fallen.

On Monday of last week, Angie, Martha and I worked from my home to get the September issue files ready for the printer. (I was the only one who had power!) Our printer, The Ledger, was extremely helpful…even offered to come to Kissimmee to pick up the files. Because of the volume of traffic, we sent it overnight to them and they held press time for us. We were fortunate to stay on schedule despite everything! We appreciate everyone’s help.

The October issue is in production. It will feature the AANR East, AANR West, MSA, WCANR, and AANR Conventions.

The Cyber-Bulletin Lynn has put the new edition of The Cyber-Bulletin online. Check it out and see what China has to say about AANR.

From the desk of Carolyn Hawkins, Public Relations Coordinator: Clubinfo@aanr.com

If your club is having a 5K run this year, or any other large activity, we would love to hear from you. Give us the dates of the event and what you are doing. This will be part of a pitch story.

Thanks to all of our members who continue to faithfully watch for newspaper and magazine articles. I really appreciate your attention in getting these to the AANR.
