Sun Meadow provided sunshine, great food, fantastic facilities and as always the northwest friendliness that we accept as a given at AANR-NW resorts.
The social hosted by the Bare Backers got the weekend off to a great start. A "Truth or Bare" greet and meet game surprised many by the creativity of those that participated. Water volleyball in the 94-degree pool topped off the evening. While no one actively kept score we all felt like winners.
Saturday morning started off with the group playing Breakfast Bingo. Breakfast Bingo, an AANR trivia game, enlightened and educated those participating.
AANR-NW President Wayne Roberts welcomed and thanked all 37 participants for being committed volunteers who gave time, money and energy to contribute to the success of the first AANR-NW GAT training. Clubs represented at the workshop included Lake Bronson, Fraternity Snoqualmie, Kaniksu, The Naturals, Bare Backers, Sun Meadow, The Willamettans, and Restful Haven.
Tom Janson welcomed participants to Sun Meadow and shared how he and Linda’s dream has now become a reality. Thanks Tom and Linda for sharing your dream and providing such an upscale destination resort.
GAT CHAT with Shirley Gauthier-AANR-NW GAT Chair followed by Community Awareness Team (CAT) provided the opportunity for participants to share what their clubs contribute in their communities.
Craig George-Advisor for the "Volunteers in the Gorge" and the "Portland Area Command Volunteers" shared his long history of working with volunteers, building partnerships and working on community relations. We thank Craig for his generous contribution to the success of this event.
"Risky Business" The group divided into five teams and role-played potential scenarios in the political world. While this was a first time scary activity for some, many others came across as professional actors and actresses.
The Naturals travel club hosted the traveling "Henry." Patty’s enthusiasm was instrumental in collecting $365 dollars in entries putting the total this year at $525. Earl and Tresa volunteered to provide "Henry" transportation to Lake Bronson. "Henry" will eventually make it to the AANR-NW Spring Board meeting at The Willamettans April 2-3. Give some thought to attending an AANR-NW GAT sponsored event at Lake Bronson April 23-24. A day of educational workshops followed by a dance in the evening and a whole lot of networking makes for a weekend you won’t want to miss. lakebronsonmail@yahoo.com Phone-360-793-0286
AANR-NW provided an incentive to clubs by offering to reimburse clubs sending participants $100.
