AANR-NW GAT Chooses Spring Board Meeting to share news!

Submitted by: Shirley Gauthier

Last year the American Association for Nude Recreation-Northwest, Government Affairs Team (AANR-NW GAT) chose to announce the SOLV Adoption of Rooster Rock and Sauvie Island at the ANNR-NW Spring Board Meeting. This has been a success story and we continue our working relationship with SOLV, Volunteers in The Gorge, US Army Corps of Engineers, US Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management, Oregon State Marine Board and the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Volunteers at the beach events make our adoptions a success! Thanks to the AANR affiliated clubs for their continued support of nudity on public lands. Much appreciation to those who can’t attend but have sent financial support. We thank Mark of “Friends of AANR” for having the vision that was instrumental in securing the adoptions.

This year AANR-NW GAT has equally important and exciting news to share. We will be announcing this news at the Spring Board meeting being held at The Willamettans, April 2-4.  phone 541-933-2809 email willies {at} efn.org . Come join us April 3, Saturday morning for the GAT meeting and help us celebrate! AANR once again promoting, enhancing and protecting our rights in appropriate settings on public lands.

SOLV sponsored “Down by the Riverside” event is/05/21st. SOLV bills this event as a program that shows what’s best about Oregon-people working together without controversy and with the common goal of improving Oregon’s communities and natural causes.

This will be the third year that AANR-NW has participated in the Down by the Riverside event. Craig George, advisor for the “Volunteers in The Gorge” shares that Gorge volunteers are looking forward to once again joining our volunteers for the beach cleanup. What makes this beach clean up unique is that we can work nude. What makes it challenging is the Oregon weather! Oregon Park employees have assured us that in case of rain we can have our hot dog roast, social and raffle drawings under the covered pavilion in the textilled portion of the park. In case of rain we must wear clothing in the pavilion as it is located in the textile portion of the park. Join in making this the largest attended event ever.

To reach Rooster Rock from Portland, Oregon drive east on Interstate 84 for 23 miles and take exist #25. We will meet at the East end of the clothing optional beach parking area at 9 a.m. Hot dog roast and social after the beach cleanup.
