The American Association For Nude Recreation (AANR) adopted Rooster Rock State Park clothing optional beach on January 1, 2005, when they entered into an agreement with the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department as part of their Adopt-A-Park program.
Rooster Rock State Park clothing optional beach had already been fostered out to the local AANR nudist community, who have been cleaning and maintaining the area for almost two years. AANR's first beach clean up and trail maintenance work party at Rooster Rock State Park was August 2, 2003.
The American Association For Nude Recreation's adoption agreement includes but not limited to hosting two major beach work parties per year, trail and vegetation improvements and general park improvements. Adopters receive a prominently displayed sign giving credit to the adopting organization.
"We're thrilled at the most recent addition of our community." said Shirley Gautier, project coordinator. "All the members of our nudist community – be they appropriately recognized clothing optional beaches, or any of the 270 plus clubs, campgrounds and resorts throughout North America, are healthy, happy and wholesome sites for social family nude recreation."
In addition to their most recent adoption AANR-NW adopted Rooster Rock clothing optional beach and Collins Beach clothing optional area on Sauvie Island March 22, 2004 within the SOLV "Adopt-A-River" program. SOLV is the statewide Oregon non-profit organization founded in 1969 by Governor Tom McCall.
Rooster Rock Clothing Optional beach is located on Interstate 84 approximately 23 miles east of Portland on the beautiful Columbia River at exit #25. The clothing optional area of the beach is located on the east end of the park.
A beach clean up to celebrate the latest member of the community will be held by volunteers in a "Down by the Riverside" SOLV event/05/21, at 9 a.m. at Rooster Rock State Park clothing optional area. SOLV bills this event as a program that shows what's best about Oregon-people working together in unanimity, accepting diversity, and with wholehearted commitment to the common goal of improving Oregon's communities and natural causes. "Down by the Riverside" is sponsored by The Oregon Lottery.
To learn more about this project or future events contact The American Association for Nude Recreation-Northwest (AANR-NW) http://www.aanr.com/ (1-800-TRY-NUDE).
Want more information about the Adopt-A-Park program go to http://egov.oregon.gov/OPRD/VOL/volunteer-adoptdesc.shtml
