The American Association For Nude Recreation (AANR) adopted Rooster Rock State Park clothing optional beach on January 1, 2005, when they entered into an agreement with the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department as part of their Adopt-A-Park program.
Rooster Rock State Park clothing optional beach had already been fostered out to the local AANR nudist community, who have been cleaning and maintaining the area for almost two years. AANR's first beach clean up and trail maintenance work party at Rooster Rock State Park was August 2, 2003.
The American Association For Nude Recreation's adoption agreement includes but not limited to hosting two major beach work parties per year, trail and vegetation improvements and general park improvements. Adopters receive a prominently displayed sign giving credit to the adopting organization.
"We're thrilled at the most recent addition of our community." said Shirley Gautier, project coordinator. "All the members of our nudist community – be they appropriately recognized clothing optional beaches, or any of the 270 plus clubs, campgrounds and resorts throughout North America, are healthy, happy and wholesome sites for social family nude recreation."
In addition to their most recent adoption AANR-NW adopted Rooster Rock clothing optional beach and Collins Beach clothing optional area on Sauvie Island March 22, 2004 within the SOLV "Adopt-A-River" program. SOLV is the statewide Oregon non-profit organization founded in 1969 by Governor Tom McCall.
Rooster Rock Clothing Optional beach is located on Interstate 84 approximately 23 miles east of Portland on the beautiful Columbia River at exit #25. The clothing optional area of the beach is located on the east end of the park.
A beach clean up to celebrate the latest member of the community will be held by volunteers in a "Down by the Riverside" SOLV event/05/21, at 9 a.m. at Rooster Rock State Park clothing optional area. SOLV bills this event as a program that shows what's best about Oregon-people working together in unanimity, accepting diversity, and with wholehearted commitment to the common goal of improving Oregon's communities and natural causes. "Down by the Riverside" is sponsored by The Oregon Lottery.
To learn more about this project or future events contact The American Association for Nude Recreation-Northwest (AANR-NW) http://www.aanr.com/ (1-800-TRY-NUDE).
Want more information about the Adopt-A-Park program go to http://egov.oregon.gov/OPRD/VOL/volunteer-adoptdesc.shtml

AANR-NW GAT Chooses Spring Board Meeting to share news!

AANR-NW GAT Chooses Spring Board Meeting to share news!

Submitted by: Shirley Gauthier

Last year the American Association for Nude Recreation-Northwest, Government Affairs Team (AANR-NW GAT) chose to announce the SOLV Adoption of Rooster Rock and Sauvie Island at the ANNR-NW Spring Board Meeting. This has been a success story and we continue our working relationship with SOLV, Volunteers in The Gorge, US Army Corps of Engineers, US Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management, Oregon State Marine Board and the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Volunteers at the beach events make our adoptions a success! Thanks to the AANR affiliated clubs for their continued support of nudity on public lands. Much appreciation to those who can’t attend but have sent financial support. We thank Mark of “Friends of AANR” for having the vision that was instrumental in securing the adoptions.

This year AANR-NW GAT has equally important and exciting news to share. We will be announcing this news at the Spring Board meeting being held at The Willamettans, April 2-4. phone 541-933-2809 email willies {at} efn.org . Come join us April 3, Saturday morning for the GAT meeting and help us celebrate! AANR once again promoting, enhancing and protecting our rights in appropriate settings on public lands.

SOLV sponsored “Down by the Riverside” event is/05/21st. SOLV bills this event as a program that shows what’s best about Oregon-people working together without controversy and with the common goal of improving Oregon’s communities and natural causes.

This will be the third year that AANR-NW has participated in the Down by the Riverside event. Craig George, advisor for the “Volunteers in The Gorge” shares that Gorge volunteers are looking forward to once again joining our volunteers for the beach cleanup. What makes this beach clean up unique is that we can work nude. What makes it challenging is the Oregon weather! Oregon Park employees have assured us that in case of rain we can have our hot dog roast, social and raffle drawings under the covered pavilion in the textilled portion of the park. In case of rain we must wear clothing in the pavilion as it is located in the textile portion of the park. Join in making this the largest attended event ever.

To reach Rooster Rock from Portland, Oregon drive east on Interstate 84 for 23 miles and take exist #25. We will meet at the East end of the clothing optional beach parking area at 9 a.m. Hot dog roast and social after the beach cleanup.

For further information contact Shirley Gauthier at sherbog {at} msn.com .

GAT Training Weekend Report

By admin at 1:23 pm on | No comments
AANR-NW Government Affairs Team (GAT) Training Weekend Report
Submitted by: Shirley Gauthier -AANR-NW GAT Chair
Sun Meadow nudist resort in Worely, Idaho located a short distance off of the I-90 corridor in Idaho, hosted the very first AANR-NW GAT training. Sun Meadow provided sunshine, great food, fantastic facilities and as always the northwest friendliness that we accept as a given at AANR-NW resorts.
The social hosted by the Bare Backers got the weekend off to a great start. A "Truth or Bare" greet and meet game surprised many by the creativity of those that participated. Water volleyball in the 94-degree pool topped off the evening. While no one actively kept score we all felt like winners.
Saturday morning started off with the group playing Breakfast Bingo. Breakfast Bingo, an AANR trivia game, enlightened and educated those participating.
AANR-NW President Wayne Roberts welcomed and thanked all 37 participants for being committed volunteers who gave time, money and energy to contribute to the success of the first AANR-NW GAT training. Clubs represented at the workshop included Lake Bronson, Fraternity Snoqualmie, Kaniksu, The Naturals, Bare Backers, Sun Meadow, The Willamettans, and Restful Haven.
Tom Janson welcomed participants to Sun Meadow and shared how he and Linda’s dream has now become a reality. Thanks Tom and Linda for sharing your dream and providing such an upscale destination resort.
GAT CHAT with Shirley Gauthier-AANR-NW GAT Chair followed by Community Awareness Team (CAT) provided the opportunity for participants to share what their clubs contribute in their communities.
Craig George-Advisor for the "Volunteers in the Gorge" and the "Portland Area Command Volunteers" shared his long history of working with volunteers, building partnerships and working on community relations. We thank Craig for his generous contribution to the success of this event.
"Risky Business" The group divided into five teams and role-played potential scenarios in the political world. While this was a first time scary activity for some, many others came across as professional actors and actresses.
The Naturals travel club hosted the traveling "Henry." Patty’s enthusiasm was instrumental in collecting $365 dollars in entries putting the total this year at $525. Earl and Tresa volunteered to provide "Henry" transportation to Lake Bronson. "Henry" will eventually make it to the AANR-NW Spring Board meeting at The Willamettans April 2-3. If you are afraid you might not be able to catch up with "Henry" you can send a check made out to AANR-NW GAT to Shirley Gauthier, %The Willamettans, POB 969, Marcola, OR 97454-0969. Entries are $5 each and there is no limit on the number of entries you can purchase. Funds collected from the "Henry Fundraiser" support AANR-NW Government Affairs Team. Thank you Henry Yuen for your continued support of AANR. The drawing will be held at the AANR-NW Convention July 4th weekend at Restful Haven.
Feeling like you missed out on a fun GAT event? Give some thought to attending an AANR-NW GAT sponsored event at Lake Bronson April 23-24. A day of educational workshops followed by a dance in the evening and a whole lot of networking makes for a weekend you won’t want to miss. lakebronsonmail@yahoo.com Phone-360-793-0286
AANR-NW provided an incentive to clubs by offering to reimburse clubs sending participants $100. Participants generously gave their time, energy, and financial support to attend. At the conclusion of this workshop we now have 37 AANR-NW volunteers who have networked with each other providing a grounded group of volunteers to promote, enhance, and protect in appropriate settings, nude recreation and nude living.
AANR-NW dues paying members and Sun Meadow, an AANR affiliated resort, made this happen! AANR Weekly Report for Feb. 25, 2005

By admin at 1:23 pm on | No comments

Edited by Mel Kanner AANR Trustee ——————————————————
AANR Weekly Report for/02/25, 2005
From the desk of Erich Schuttauf, Executive Director: Execdir@aanr.com
I enjoyed seeing many of you last week during the AANR midwinter meeting of the Board of Trustees. Please accept my deepest thanks to the staff at Paradise Lakes, the many volunteers of this Association, and to those of you on my staff who made it such a success.
Incredible Government Affairs Training session held at the AANR Board Meeting. There is a dedicated team of AANR and AANR Regional volunteers who stand at the ready to help organize, testify, and do what it takes to protect nude recreation in North America — including your clubs and backyards? Last weekend, these volunteers received intensive two-day training from some of the top lobbyists, attorneys, and even state lawmakers from around the country. As a licensed attorney, I can tell you that to get this caliber of training at a Continuing Education seminar or professional association meeting would cost several hundred dollars. Now, about 40 volunteers have that training. This is just one more way that AANR and its regions are working to protect nude recreation. I want to especially thank your Government Affairs Chair Alonzo Stevens, his wife Debra, and Pat Orner of the AANR office for their considerable help.
Additional details about the program—and thank you to all our speakers and attendees— will appear in future issue of The Bulletin.
CAN YOU HELP US? Has your non-landed club ever held a nudist event in a facility that also happened to have a liquor license? If so, you 05 be able to help us out with a situation that we're gathering research on right now. If you have an example that you would be comfortable sharing with us, please e-mail Pat Orner at govtaffairs@aanr.com. Under the leadership of "Chief" Alonzo Stevens the training was an interactive environment where speakers and attendees exchanged the "WHO-WHAT-WHERE-WHEN-HOW'S AND HOW NOT'S" of successful government affairs. Shirley Gauthier arrived without her luggage for day one – she opened as a "virtual reality Sun Flower" and with the help of a friend during the morning sun break – returned in a sunny outfit. After a super lunch in the sun – the excitement continued to build. Jimmy Corsentino showed the roots of government and how a bill becomes a law. Don Murphy gave us a look at how he became a member of the Maryland House of Delegates and how that helps him as a lobbyist. Bob Levy could not stay all day as he prepares for the opening of the Florida Legislative Session – but was able through role play with Shirley – to show us what to expect when we go lobbying. We ended day one with a frank discussion with MO Rep. Curt Dougherty on approaching a legislator (Don Murphy acted as the truth meter). The buzz at the networking hour reinforced the positive atmosphere and the learning going on. Stay tuned next week for day two report and what we see for the future of GAT training.
TEXAS CLUBS: Please stand ready for the possibility that we will need members to fill the gallery in Austin in early March.
It's time to get unbundled and play!
The Naturist Winter Escape is happening this weekend – February 25-27 – at Sun Meadow Resort and the exciting details are finally all here:
—- Friday Evening Early Bird Kickoff —-
6:30 PM = Kickoff Dinner: Naturist Action Soup – Salad – Homemade Bread
8 PM viewing "The Unashamed" on Sun Meadow's big 8' x 12' screen! "The Unashamed" (1937) is a love story dealing with various topics that were off-limits to Hollywood at the time: nudism, race relations, and sexuality. (Aside from the nudity, it would warrant a PG rating, though.) This early film will help set the context for the current media discussions on Saturday.
9 PM For the first time on the Big Screen "Barrage: The World on Stage" (a favorite video concert from last summer's AANR-NW Convention at Sun Meadow) Barrage is a stunning visual and aural fusion of music, dance, theater and song centered around an ageless and powerful instrument — the violin. The performance offers a bombardment of cultures, styles and vitality.
